The Casagrandes: Season 3: Episode 20: Flock This Way/ Movers and Fakers (And Season/Series thoughts)

 The Casagrandes Nickelodeon

Episode 20a : Flock This Way

The Santiago and Casagrande kids have a day out, and Rosa is picking. She decides to birdwatching, which makes the kids not want to go because they think the idea is boring. She decides that they are going anyway and that's what they do.  So in the woods to look at birds. (you mean watch birds)  She has a set list of birds she wants watch.

I do think this episode is funny,  there are some funny moments.  There's a guy named David Nababirdy (Get it?)  and he's also interested in bird watching, it seems.  The kids decide to get this over with by using Sergio to dress up as different birds to make sure Rosa will see the kinds of birds she wanted to see.

This episode also kind of makes Sergio suffer, and knowing this character has  caused some suffering it's kind of alright here. Then of course a mistake was made where the kids dress up Sergio as a bird that doesn't exist in that area. (oops)  Nababirdy is also interested in this interesting experience. He decides, when the others run off, to take Sergio thinking he's the rare bird and is going to sell him. (I'm glad to see he's not that bright)   Sergio is able to call the kids to get him and they hope he'll be reasonable. He is not.

The only logical thing now is to jail break Sergio. They do get him out, but then Nababirdy goes on the hunt while they are still in his house. Then they find capture him in his large cage and apparently send him in the mail to the rich guy he was going to sell Sergio too. Wow, they are sending a man away by mail. holy wow.  Anyway, they explain to Rosa what happened and apologize to her and offer to go bird watching for real with her.  Then Rosa releases the bees, for her new hobby.

This was an alright episode, Sergio, actually doesn't annoy in this one. It's a funny episode too, the little jokes were pretty good and wasn't expecting them to send the bad guy away like that. (Not as dark as sending  woman to her death into space, but still)   That was a good one 7/10.

More after the Jump

Episode 20b: Movers and Fakers

Bobby is felling like he's a little crowded at home, while he's trying to talk to Lori.  Thanks to a neighbor moving out, there's a spot he could move into, but he doesn't want to because he thinks his family would freak out.  I do like how Lori is used this episode as kind of giving him some advice and stuff that proves right; it's a nice touch.

Anyway Bobby decides to get the apartment and not tell his family. So most of the episode is Bobby pretending that he didn't move out and just ramping how he hides it.  Lori tells him, wisely, to tell the truth.  Now the plot comes in, where that neighbor that moved teaches Rosa, Hector, and Maria some baking and French, well that's a problem. (oops)  Now Bobby has to pretend to be the neighbor and make sure his family doesn't know it's him.

It apparently works for a while, Bobby using videos in his ears to help fake it works until it doesn't. The gags were good for this episode. So, Bobby finally tells the truth and it's not what he expected. Rosa and Maria say it was alright and he's an adult now and can make decisions like that. It's a sweet thing and I like how they decided to give Bobby his own space in series, uhhh yeah. The final scene is also something to behold.

A good episode, nice status quo change episode. It was a nice episode, with funny moments and nice warmth. 7.5/10

And that's it, for the season... and the series.  I think I mentioned this before, the series canceled after 3 seasons, and that news came out earlier in 2022. When I was writing about episodes for this blog, this was mostly just episodes going to the final countdown really. The show had 3 seasons of 20 episodes each, which was interesting, compared to The Loud House and 26 episodes. (or half hours)  This was the finale.

First,  I think it had a great run of 3 seasons and  so it didn't out stay a welcome, maybe there was room for more,  but  maybe it's better leave the people wanting more. The final episode being this one was a nice touch. I don't think the show needed a full grand finale, and also pleased, not that I thought they would, that there was no having Ronnie Anne's family move back to Royal Woods. That would have been bad. The ending show's Bobby's progression and glad he got the focus of the final episode.

Second, the season. I think season 3 was pretty good.  There's only one episode I found awful, that being "Alpaca Plan" , but otherwise pretty strong. It was nice to see Lisa make an appearance as the first non Lincoln Loud interaction , when it wasn't the whole Loud Family. (Not just because Lisa is my favorite Loud Sister)  The episode with Clyde and Lincoln joining Ronnie Anne and Sid was pretty well done, and a good crossover episode. (Which this show did a few times)   Season 3 was mostly solid.

It was nice to see some of the family dynamics in better play here this season. There are somethings here they should have done instead of a Sergio plot in season 2 or something.  I think the specials this season were pretty strong, the Halloween one and Phantom Freak out, were well done and interesting.

Let's talk the series, a little.  I wasn't sure on a spin-off of The Loud House at first, it was a sense of unsureness. I wasn't sure how I thought a Ronnie Anne and large family series would work. The season 4 episodes featuring them were alright, but watching the first premiere episode made everything come together.  They made the entire series an environment and found ways to be a little different than the parent series.  It wasn't a perfect series, that's hard to do, but it was good and had its own value.   I think it is worth checking out, and that's why I've written 60 blog posts and done each episode. I felt it was worth it.  Yeah I'm happy it existed.

The series did a good job of developing Ronnie Anne, who has a slight characterization in the Loud House,  but they did a good job of giving her a great showing of development in this series.  Sid was a good addition to be her best friend and they played off each other well as characters. I'm actually surprised they didn't do much with the friends she had introduced in The Loud House, like they did show up but they didn't really give them much except to be friends in a squad.   Laird was an addition from this series and he became a fun and interesting character in his own right.  I'm also happy Becky was introduced as well, she's one of favorite side characters in the series.(and Ricky too) I also like how the series developed its neighborhood and characters to give it a close knit and realistic feel with the cast of characters. That's been great to watch in the series showing how it's a nice little community together.

That's it for now, tune in next time when we visit Bobby's place for a house warming party.
