The Loud House : Season 4: Episode 17: Singled Out/ Brave the Last Dance

 The Loud House  Nickelodeon

   Episode 17a :  Singled Out

The Loud House has done episodes about love to various mixtures of results.  A noticed example has to be "L is For Love" which at most was an episode , in hindsight, that teased you into thinking every Loud (not Lilly, and Lori since she already has someone) has a crush and at the same time. (I'm sad Skippy wasn't made a friend for Lana, or Paige had less showing up than she should have) This episode takes a different angle compared to past Loud House love episodes.

Lynn Loud Jr. is 13-years-old , I'd assume her friends are also 12 or 13, and that's interesting age,  which is why many shows like the 12-13 range for usage because of how pivotal it is in human life.  This episode goes with Lynn has a roller derby team and they are all interested in dates,  and Lynn, our main character of the episode, is not interested in such things.

It's kind of fast that all the other girls have someone they are interested in at the same time, as well, but I think that's to give an effect.   Lynn's team wants to spend time with their dates, while she ends up sitting at a "kiddie table" a good way to symbolize a way to show Lynn might feel more like a child compared to her teammates who are growing up.

The episode goes through more moments where Lynn notices her 4 friends are having more fun with their dates  and not with her feeling left out. singled out you can say, (boo!).  It's also interesting spot to put Lynn in, because she's usually a confident character , but here she's more at a loss and feeling kind of out of things.  She mentions she's not really interested in this love thing.

That could mean anything, but it could be taken she's not really in that state of growth to have that idea , which again, isn't something presented in media like this with character this age , that' s different style to what many times happens.  I'll mention this, because she is Lynn, she decides the best idea is to go find a date, just for purposes of not being left out. There's not going be a romantic end to this, for that note.

The episode has levity to it, where Lynn tries to find a boy that can keep up with  her and does stuff that fits her way. In hot food test, she finds a boy named Dexter, who wears glasses(wait!)  and has an anime shirt because something. Now, her friends are happy for her and they squeal for her (I'm cutting out of my ears)  Lynn fakes doing couple stuff, and tires to still talk to her friends,  but they are still preoccupied with love-y stuff.

Also like the kid from the kiddie table scene shows up again, where he's having more fun than Lynn.  The episode is showing that Lynn is not having fun and wants do things that aren't about couples and that her plan is not working, since her friends are still focused on being in love.  She decides to tell Dexter she wants to break up and tells him why she wanted to be with him, (Also kill that cow suit guy)

Dexter tells her, he was doing the same thing to impress his friends.  This is a nice moment and the realization that they aren't ready and shouldn't force being ready until they are uh...ready. The episode finishes with Lynn playing the boy from earlier. The friends join in , because sure. I'm not endorsing the mess up the restaurant part though.

It's pretty well done, this episode doesn't end with a romance thing, which his great, because it shows a different aspect. Lynn wasn't ready for that and it's saying to some viewers (taps the target demo sign) that's fine, don't have to feel pressured to do so, and that's not something you get much in this media.    I give the episode 8/10.

  More after the jump

Episode 17b: Brave the Last Dance

This episode is also about love, crushes, gooey stuff, but in the more traditional sense of this show's workings. This time, it's about Clyde. I know, the one thing that was noted about Clyde before this season was that he had a crush on Lori, and did an anime nose bleed thing,  it never bugged me ,as it did others,  but  it is alright they moved on from that, because there's only so far you can go with that.

Something something, Clyde, starts to have crush on a girl named Emma.  That's what this episode is about. He's part of a dance committee with Emma, Chloe, and a boy named Ryker, He wants to ask Emma to the dance, and instead of just asking her, his friends and him decide to test the grounds to see if she notices him.

Every time, Emma "passes a test" Clyde doubts and needs more evidence, you know, instead of just asking her. You can understand his position though, and after Stella tries to predict the future, he decides to ask her to the dance, but she just says no, and wants to just be friends. (well that's sad)  Clyde feels embarrassed and wants to hide from everyone. He's not going to dance or making desserts for it.

There's a cake problem, and Sherryl needs help, so Clyde decides he has to help and and has to fix a cake that was wrong.  He makes it a nice Valentine's Day cake.  Then he notices the girl that's been around Emma the whole time, named Chloe , and she liked the dance proposal and it seems they bond. Clyde then takes his chance to ask her to dance with him. It's a sweet moment. the episode is sweet.

It's an alright and sweet Valentine's Day themed episode, and I think it's a good one, I give it 7.5/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time when we fall in love again.
