The Loud House: Season 3: Episode 6: Net Gains/ Pipe Dreams

 The Loud House  Nickelodeon

       Episode 6a: Net Gains

Going back and talking about Lynn Loud, this is an episode that focuses on her from her point of the view, the first one really.  Lynn is all about winning (like the New England Patriots during the Tom Brady era) but what cost would she pay to win?  Her goal in this episode is to achieve FLIBBR (is that rabies?) Football, Lacrosse, Ice-Hockey, Baseball, Basketball, and Roller Derby and she wants to win the title for basketball.  The episode also uses her superstitious  nature for the starting element.

The main focus is she wants to get on a winning team to win a championship in basketball. (So she can get that new liver) There are five teams, four of them look well crafted and highly talented, one is not. Can you guess which one Lynn gets?  (That's right, she's been drafted for the Memphis Grizzles! Yay!)  This episode also introduces Paula yay!  You can also tell which team Lynn gets when they introduce the teams, because this team is red.

This is a weird exaggeration of a team, why is one kid (Paula) playing with a broken leg (her leg!)  which is um something.  They have a kid who can't say awake (same) and yeah sure this makes sense. Lynn's strategy is to make sure she always has the ball, which helps her win.  The teammates aren't really  aren't into this, but Lynn never acts mean to her team. Another team figures out her strategy (joke removed due to legal reasons)

Lynn convinces Flip, who is sponsoring the team, to get some ringers to fill out the team.  It's weird that Flip and Lynn ride in a van to find people to join a team. (Mom, I'm scared)  Lynn convinces Flip to have the two girls live in his garage so they can be technically living in Royal Woods to play.  (What?)  Lynn's plan works to well and she finds out that she doesn't get to play, because two new players only play each other.  This makes Lynn realize that she made a mistake.

The two new players quit and the rest of the team does uh...teamwork and play in a championship game. They didn't win, but they got the spirit.

For the first episode about Lynn from Lynn's point of view, it's a good outing for her, since she has to play protagonist in this episode.  It shows her flaws  and goals well, she wants to win and winning is important to her, going off Lynner takes all , where she was a "bad winner" to show her the values of team work as well.   It's a good episode with some well done advancement for Lynn.  I give it 7.6/10.

Episode 6b: Pipe Dreams

Oh boy , an episode about the parents (muted yay) and the fact the house has one bathroom and never thought the idea of having more than one makes sense at all.  The parents waiting in line and instead of exhorting some authority decide instead to just wait because ha ha it's funny or something.  They get an idea to make their own bathroom, but they worry that the kids will just take it over, again, instead or showing some authority or something. (Not saying they should be yelling psychos, but I'm saying they should add their new bathroom, tell the kids not to use it, simple, but nah)

So the plan is to sneakily build a bathroom in their room closet. It is kind of an interesting turn around to see the parents do something sneaky instead of the kids, though it would be easier for them to just have the kids go out and do something by giving them cash, but alright.  I kind of  hate adding a realism to this but, ( a classic but addition) the parents are parents and could just build a bathroom  and tell the kids that they need a bathroom of their own and they can't use it, that could have been the plot, like the kids keep sneaking a use of the bathroom and the eventually the parents  figure it out and maybe decide to find a compromise or the kids learn something, something else.

Because the way the episode goes is that they decide to keep the bathroom a secret and then the dog decides to enter that bathroom and they think the kids have found it.  The logical choice is to get expensive security that apparently is not good enough for the pets to get in. Also, they don't suspect that the pets do anything because stupidity. It's like watching the two slightly sane people , lose grip with sanity.  Eventually, they get locked in the bathroom because these closet doors are like iron and steel? (not really but really they should be the easiest doors to take down) The kids have to break down the door and the kids find the bathroom.

Rita saying we kept the bathroom a secret from you and that was wrong  makes it feel it feel like an episode that was written for the kids and swapped out with the parents because that's an odd line.  The parents say they can use the new bathroom anytime, but hmm we need to status quo to have them not have enough money for the bathroom to be fixed and the episode tries to do some weird ending where the kids say they can use the bathroom upstairs, what?

This episode is like a slightly better "Vantastic Voyage" coming from me that's not a compliment.  I don't know, it feels off and it's written off and the plot doesn't fit and it's just there being weird. The only things of value is you see good parent chemistry.  The episode's plot doesn't work to well because they are parents and have been shown to be more grounded in some past episodes (not Vantastic Voyage) there are other ways they could have done a second bathroom plot, also odd the episode says they had enough money to build a new bathroom and  then buy expensive security , then the money is like gone for convenience reasons  for  the show to  hold a "we have one bathroom" thing for a future episode.  Like how in the van episode it says well the moral of the story is that the new van can't be used anymore because uhhh I don't know, but status quo reasons and probably drawing vans suck.

It's not the worst episode (It's not Green House or Vantastic Voyage) but it's not that good either, so um I give it  5.5/10 and let's go home.

That's it for now, tune in next time when secret bathroom that's what we have, we shouldn't have it, but we can't let go, no no, because of that sweet low-flow.
