Episode 11a: Silence of the Luans

I'm happy that for season 5, the series has brought back the April Fool's themed episodes. I have always found these episodes fun and glad that they decided to do another one after a season's absence. Also, hello Clarice. The episode starts with Lincoln talking to us, the people, I'm glad this has been brought back again. The strange thing about this is that he explains April Fool's Day at the Loud House like this is season 1.  I would get it if this was the first April Fool's Day episode in the series, but this is the fourth and we are in a year skip so, that's kind of strange. I will give the episode of creating a great aesthetic of tension for the episode.  I will point out that this episode rewards rewatching, more on that in a second.

This year, the Louds have put Luan in a cell, much like the one you'd see on "Silence of the Lambs" Luan tries to convince her family that she was done with pranking, maybe she remembers the season 3 episode's ending, and none of them are buying it.  Then Lincoln his hit by a salami and some pranks happen upstairs.   This episode is fun to watch and rewatch  just in general, but if you do rewatch,  you can notice some clues that really make good give aways to what's going on.  ( I say watch the dog)

The part where Lincoln goes to check on what's going on upstairs, is amazing as well, I think we did a "Saving Private Ryan" reference and that's something extra. The family wonders how the pranks are happening even with Luan locked up. They run to Lisa's bunker and they find out that the robots have been made into traps as well. (That's a line)  They blame Luan who swears that she didn't do it. The only one who believes it is Lincoln, because he feels the pranks to don't match up to her style.

They do another "Silence" reference with Luan on a cart with a mask and tied up, another fun touch. Luan and Lincoln go to check around for clues for the real prankster.  Meanwhile, rest of the family have left the house. ( I will also say in the car ride scene watch the baby)  Lincoln and Luan notice that Charles the dog is not acting normal. (uhh)

[  Spoiler Here if you want to go in fresh, skip a head to the next green  text in brackets]

Luan figures out that Lilly is the prankster, yes, that's just random. Lilly has more trick prepared to have the van on a remote go around forever... (until it runs out of gas, like right?)  Luan and Lincoln set chase and we get this really fun action scene.  The juice box that Luan wanted the whole time fixes the plot as it help stop the whole plan. Luan tells the family that Lily reignited her spirit for pranking. Which was apparently, Lilly's plan the whole time.

[Spoiler is over here]

This was a well done, fun and creative episode. I enjoyed it from start to finish. The episode also has great jokes and little details that are rewarding to see during re-watch. The whole episode is a great mixture of tension, action, and comedy. They did a fun parody of "Silence of the Lambs" with a Loud House twist.  This was a great episode 9/10.

More after the jump

Episode 11b: Undercover Mom

Rita finds out that she has teenage daughters and they have no interest in telling her things. Rtia feels that aging and timing is coming to her. Anyway she goes to work and finds out co-worker at her newspaper has gone undercover, and she gets an idea to do the same. So, her plan is to use the guise of  a report to spy on her high school daughters to get them to open up to her more. (You can see where this plan will go wrong later) She becomes a highschool girl named Brita (she makes the purest water) Now she meets her daughters as Brita.

The girls can't see that she's their mother and get to know her and tell her stuff about themselves. Leni has a crush on some guy who won't see again (that's right, I'm saying that); Luna having having girlfriend troubles; and Luan having her join in on pranks. She already finished her story  for the paper, but decides to do that thing where a character decides to stay in the thing they liked because the connection. Now, she's been invited over to her own house for dinner and kids notice that their mother is gone. Since, Lynn sr can't think of any good excuses, Rita decides to try to pretend to be two people and now they figured it out, because of course.

Rita writes something  for the paper in a nice touch that helps move the episode well, that Rita learns that she should understand her kids have their own lives, and trust them to come to her when they need her. I think this episode was written more for the adults in the audience, but might help kids understand their parents want to be part of their lives. It's a well done episode for that.  I give it 7.5/10.

That's it for now... we are going to have dinner, of liver with fava beans and nice kaante.
