The Loud House: Season 2: Episode 23: Read Aloud/ Not a Loud

The Loud House Nickelodeon

Previously on "The Loud House", Lincoln watches his youngest sisters and doesn't loss them. You can read that here.

  Now to episode 23

        Episode 23 A  : Read Aloud

The episode's title sounds like Rita Loud but it's nothing about her, so that's  a missed opportunity.  It's about  Lola Loud, well yes and now. What's my point?  I don't  know. The main plot of the episode is that the Louds as a family are in a contest to read as many books as possible to win  a contest from  a placed called "Spunk E Pigeons " because they'll do anything for free pizza. (even kill; probably) So they go the library , and we get to set up that Lola might not like the idea. Meanwhile. there's also a running gag of Lisa hiding her identity because she has unpaid library fines. (arrested for Library crimes) If you pay attention to Lola in the early part of the episode, you'll notice that she is not very happy at all.  This is  a good hint of what they are setting up.

Now everyone in the family needs to read books to qualify (wait the baby?)  and Lola reallly doesn't seem to be interested. (They could pretend there is no Lola, like how there's no Lisa because she's pretending to be a very short stereotype of a Texan, and they could do that, but you know, plot reasons.)  The rest of the family worries that  Lola will ruin their chances of free pizza night. (Licy stole my idea, kind of)    The family instead decides to show her that books can be fun. (Havin' fun isn't hard when you got a library card.)

They do the thing where the pitch books that they would like because this show really wants to you know how these character's personalities work even by now.  The episode actually figures this out that the were trying to get Lola to read things they like, when they could be finding books about things she likes because they didn't think of that in the first place.  (Hey, we need to fill that eleven minutes up!)

It's nice touch to see how Lincoln helps Lola find a book by using her interests.   The final day, the Louds have read a total of 260 books beating the next family who under them who did 23. The librarian quizzes them to prove they read the books. When it comes to Lola they find out that she didn't read a book  That means because she didn't read the book, the family lost their spot (because sure that makes sense) Lincoln knows they have 2 hours left, tries to get Lola to read and he finds out that  (spins a wheel) she can't read.   I could bring up that in previous episodes: she was able to read but, apparently, this episode needed something for the plot and there we go.

Lincoln helps her with the problem  even letting the time go past the deadline, showing his caring side and giving the episode a moment of sweetness.  He tries to take the rap for them not making the deadline, but Lola comes out an explains why.  The rest of the family does this weird shift from anger to kindness, it scared me.  The episode ends with Lola making the family some pizza. I guess it's a good ending, also Lisa owes  $50,000  how the heck do you owe that much in library fines?  Nobody knows.

It's a fine episode, I think the thing that shines here is Lincoln. He's understanding and just trying to help Lola figure out something to read, and later helping her learn how to read versus, doing it just because he wants the free food, which he does want , but isn't making it the driving force for his reasons. Letting the deadline pass and taking the fall shows that he was willing to have some heat thrown on him just because he cares. Lola  was also a shining here as well. So, yeah it's good episode I give it 9/10.

More after the Jump

            Episode 23 B : Not A Loud

Finally, the episode we've been the waiting for... the truth that Lincoln Loud is adopted. Many people like to think Lincoln is adopted because he's the only boy, has white hair, doesn't have the one trick characteristics , the other Louds have , and more!  So, I'm guessing the writers knew about these theories and decided to make an episode.

So Lincoln has an assignment about the day the were born.  (because that makes sense)  He looks through all the baby books and finds that his is missing the information for his birth story. So, he asks his parents and they make it look worse by their own ineptitude. (They had 11 years to make up a story)   Lincoln is suspicious and decides to figure out on his own , the day he was born. So first, he asks Lori who tells him she saw a scientist holding him.

Lincoln gets the idea from that, that he was born in a lab and created there. (That would explain Lisa, more than him) He gets the idea from a plot convenient movies; this also happens when Leni says he was brought in by an eagle and he instead of questioning her sanity decides to think that he's like an eagle boy film.( I question his sanity) The boy attempts to eagle stuff because again, should question his sanity.   Luna says that there were some men in black when Lincoln was brought to the house.  So, their thoughts were that Lincoln was an alien.

Good thing thee was a plot convenient movie.  Luan says she remembers she was happy to have a brother, they thought he was going to be a girl. Lincoln ask the dumbest question of  why would they think that?   ( I don't know Lincoln, there were 5 girls born before , read the dang room)  They had a room decorated and then she says we thought they brought in the wrong baby.   Also love the running gag of Clyde trying to find reason behind the white hair.  Anyway, Lincoln thinks that maybe his parents wanted a boy so bad they paid a doctor to switch babies. (I mean it does make more sense to commit crimes than to just adopt one so, alright)

Then they go find his real family, and it's funny to see these families that could fit the bills of swapped kids. Even a family with white hair and a girl that uses the Lori character model. Lincoln decides to talk to his "parents" and  tells them that they committed crimes to switch a babies by paying a doctor off. (arrest those people now!)   After they laugh, NOW they can tell them him the real story, after wasting his time, earlier.

So, because the van broke like normal, then the president and the first lady of the United States just happened to be going by  and give them a ride to the hospital.  (what?)   Lincoln wanted to come out earlier (what do you mean by this?)  The president was going to help deliver him ,but he passed out and the first lady took over.  They could tell him because the president was heading a secret meeting (at the time of day in that part of the country at the same time this man and woman were having their baby)

They had to sign an agreement to not tell anyone (or get shot?) Lincoln is still confused by some details. Like the girl's room decorating, well that's because they are cheap and already had the stuff.  Men in black  : secret service,  the scientist was the first lady, the eagle was the presidential seal.  Lincoln can't tell his class the story though, because of the agreement.  Too bad, we didn't find out about Lincoln's white hair.

I like they had a sense of humor with the Lincoln is adopted theory and made a good episode. It's a little goofy and Lincoln seems to switch his mind off a little , but it's entertaining and that's what counts.  Your enjoyment of the episode will vary depending on what you might like or dislike about the episode.  If you think Lincoln took stupid pills in this episode then you will not like it, if you think it's too repetitive to  fill eleven minutes, then welcome to watching the Loud House.   If you like the goofiness of it and find it's comedy fun, then this episode is for you.  I found it good, though not an episode I can watch a lot, but it's a fun episode I give it 8/10.

That's it for now,  tune in next time when, I hope this blog post isn't redacted by the ...........
