The Loud House Nickelodeon

I'm going to say this first, the character of Ronnie Anne getting a whole special is kind of interesting in concept because she had barely been on the show. The last episode she appeared in was (insert link here) Shell Shock. Before that, not one season 2 episode had her in it. The season before, we had her in like 2 episodes as a character , 1 episode as a cameo, 3 episodes mentioned. The idea of character, if they full committed to her, is not bad idea to get to know her. We did a glimpse of her family life in "Shell Shock" with her single mother and working brother. This episode takes that and expands it but, decides to do something that might also be spin-off bait?
Episode 13: The Loudest Mission : Relative Chaos
It starts with Lori AGGRESSIVELY driving and the banter of Lori saying Ronnie Anne is Lincoln's girlfriend and he denies it. The reason is that Bobby is going away for the weekend with his family and she can't handle that. (Won't be she surprised by this episode then) Ronnie Anne tells Lincoln that she gets to see her Grandparents, Aunt and Uncle, and cousins and yep it's big family (Yeah, we haven't seen that before on this show ever!) Lori and Bobby can't handle this or society.
Here's an important line that I notice from this being re watching Maria, Ronnie and Bobby's mother, says this to R.A "I'm sorry, I have to leave you alone so much." In hindsight, this is a line that seems to be giving a context clue. Ronnie Anne says she's fine with the idea and again shows Ronnie Anne taking care of things around the house. ( I kind of wish we had seen more of that and how her life is but you know...)
This episode has a new setting some sort of large city. I'm uncomfortable with how many times they keeping 2 days It's like they want me to remember that number for something. Let's meet this extended family there's Ronnie's (yeah we keep shortening her name) grandparents Rosa and Hector, there's her aunt Frieda, uncle Carlos, their kids in order of age: Carlota, CJ, Carl, and Carlitos. They live in this apartment building between different apartments. (Also, will give props to the show for giving a character with down syndrome and not have that be their character, good work!) I like how they use the interactions to get us introduced to these people we've never seen before.
Stop repeating 2 days, (you what , I'm taking of 0.2 pts for that!) The family also a bird named Sergio and a dog named Lalo. (And they matter because?)[ Silence you!] Maria has a secret (she killed a man?) something about a big change. (Oh my gosh, she's not their mother!) [What?] The family also owns a bodega. (Well look at this blog using fancy words) For a show that lets tomboys tomboy this episode has a character that won't let the tomboy tomboy and that's kind of annoying.
I also get a clue this episode is not even in the same state. Bobby gets to see the family bodgea and gives ides to help the place out. Why do the characters keep saying EVERYDAY to Ronnie Anne, what are they implying? I forgot to mention her family is called the Casagradnes (as real as last name as Loud is). (Also that means it's on her and Bobby's mother's side of the family) More won't let tomboy tomboy moment because reasons. If this part is to make us feel with Ronnie Anne that they are a little much then, it works. I mean, she is someone who used to be doing things with way less people and she might be comfortable with that. She also says the line I said earlier about "Everyday". (I laughed at bird saying he's naked, I'm out)
Ronnie Anne and Bobby thought they were going to be staying for only 2 DAYS, but then CJ dropped a bomb on them,
More after the Jump
Yep this is a full 22 minute special. (8 minutes of commercials ,yikes!)
Surprise, Surprise, Ronnie Anne, the unexpected hit her between the eyes, the predictable the surprise you see is Maria, her mother wants to move the family in with Casagrandes. She explains she doesn't want the family to feel so alone anymore and when she found out she could get a job there it worked out. Which, I can see her point her point yes.
Ronnie Anne doesn't want to do this, Bobby does , because apparently yes. Remember Lincoln? (no) She tells him that she doesn't want to move and uses Lori to at least convince Bobby that was wrong. (Oh no, he forgot he had a girlfriend shame him!) Carl wants to hit on Lori, because reasons. Rosa decides to feed Lincoln meaning she must be bribing him huh? Bobby's absent mindedness meant Lori couldn't get a word in to convince to stay.
Lori tries dress differently to attract Bobby to her again or something. It is kind of interesting to see Ronnie Anne and Lori have such a togetherness on a goal. Instead after these two talk, they find out that he did care about her and thought of a plan.
Ronnie Annie FINALLY tells her mother that she doesn't want to move. She does love her family but would like to stay in Royal Woods. This episode mentioned this weird cats a bunch of times and they are important slightly after all. Ronnie Anne goes inside to pack up and go back home and she finds out they gave her a room, apparently, this makes her change her mind. (what changed her mind? Running time?) Also the cats come into the apartment because we had time for that though. Ronnie Anne gets to break the fourth wall.
I'm going give to the score first just because there's more to say and that might get bogged. So it is 9.3/10.
This is season 2 and a character that really admit it, we've not seen much of in a real context. What do I know about her from gleaming anything from the episodes she was seen int or mentioned. There was a girl who bullied Lincoln because she liked him. (I said in the Heavy Meddle piece, that am not a fan of that type idea) Later, she shows up in episode where Lincoln see her as rough and over the top and insults her. Then has to be with her because his sister wants to continue dating her brother. He does at least, find out that maybe they can like each other (friendship way , calm down). I'm not going count it as an arc, but she does show up in April Fools' Rules and maybe was going to prank him? Dance Dance Resolution he tries to avoid he because he doesn't want to go to a dance; she doesn't want to either, it took a while to figure this out. Then Shell Shock, I guess he still she's overtly aggressive ,but he sees that has a caring side to her, with her family. So what is this episode for? It's kind of weird to do this with someone the audiene barely knows. Since is an animated series that was renewed for its second season during it's first season this episode and others were made way ahead of it airing, yet they only did episode with her in the season, then jump here we go, she moves!
I do wish they had more episodes, if they were committed to her as a character, before they did this status quo change. Oh yeah, they did a status quo change, they didn't have Ronnie Anne agree to stay then a few episodes later, oh I'm back in Royal Woods, I changed my mind after all. That would have been weird. I have to give them that, that bold thing to do.
I think the characters they made for her family were pretty interesting, they aren't copies of the Louds and bring something fun to the table. I do feel in the context of the episode, Maria was too quick to want to move her family and just kind of spring a surprise on them? Bobby, even they explained it away kind of, seemed still too eager to just jump and move. Ronnie's reaction seemed the most realistic to situation but, then it's like the run time was against them , we had time for silly cat stuff didn't we? That he change of heart was a little too fast. Especially because Maria and Ronnie Anne both had good reasons for wanting move or stay where they were. very valid, but that didn't happen. (Maybe you can say that the family understands that Ronnie Anne might like her own privacy and space is what helped change her mind and I can say that's valid.)
Back of mind with hindsight, does make me think they wereplanning gambling for a spin off. A bold move, because if that didn't pay off, oops. (There are episodes where we will see the Casagrandes again, and they could have been brought in back and forth into main series, but still a big gamble anyway; also, the show was renewed for season 3, before season 2 came out.) These are just my random thoughts around the episode, me kind of wanting them to have done more with Ronnie Anne before doing jump like this than not, but they were lucky the jump paid off.
The episode is good and I really don't have much fault in it, and it is nice to see some Ronnie Anne development.
That's it for now, tune in next time after we close this back door, it's just wide open.
