The Casagrandes: Season 1: Episode 3: The Two of Clubs/ Vacation Daze

The Casagrandes  Nickelodeon

If you missed our post look please check it out here.   Now on to episode 3! (Or in production order, number 2 because yes)

Episode 3A; The Two of  Clubs

This is a good episode about Sid and Ronnie Anne's friendship.  The two girls have to pick an afternoon club and they want to do one together because they don't want to miss out on "two hours of hang time".   So the main part of this episode is seeing them try different clubs: starting with Lucha Libre club.  Sid doesn't seem to be cut out for the club since she doesn't seem to be aggressive enough for it.  When that doesn't work, they for robotics, which is something that Sid really wants to try. The episode slightly gives us  a characteristic of Sid where she might be good at robotics, while Ronnie Anne might not be good at it.

Maybe the third time is the charm, they try pottery. Maybe 4th, with knitting. You will see that during each try that the girls seem to switch between which one is good at the activity.  Also, the background character , Laird, is everywhere in this and poor guy doesn't have fun.   Something that I thought the episode was going to do was figure out a way to have it where they'll go into a train club since it's mentioned a few times, but it doesn't, so they did surprise me.

The two girls decide they should do separate things.  Darn it episode, I didn't need to feel sad but you did it.  (Darn Montage)   The next day, Sid tries to do Lucha Libre club and Ronnie Anne tries robotics. Showing they decided to do each other's events to be together after all.  Which is a sweet moment.

In a fun twist, the girls end up creating a  lucha libre- robotics club.  Even Laird gets his arc finished in this episode.  The other background character, Becky, was a fun one and she added a lot of fun to the episode.

The plot of Ronnie Anne and Sid wanting to do something together is simple yet effective. You see both of them trying out something to make sure they stay together.  The episode offers insights in the characters as well, like what they  are each good at.  It's  also a nice little touch to show their differences as much as what makes them good friends.  I think their solution was creative , as well.  This is a 9/10 episode.

  More after the Jump

   Episode 3B Vacation Daze

We don't see much of Ronnie Anne's mother because she is a nurse and works nurse hours. So. when she gets a day off, Ronnie Anne wants to spend as much time as she can with her.  The plan doesn't seem to go well , at first as Bobby and the rest of the family keep asking Maria to do things.

I like the way Ronnie (can we call her that for short? Please don't get mad) figures out ways to make this work out.  There's some fun comedy in this par as well especially from the bird, Sergio, who hurries along a speed dating session in creative ways.

Eventually, Ronnie Ann tells everyone that she really wants to spend the day with her mother and that works out.  Now, the two of them get out of the apartment but, they get separated when Maria falls asleep on a subway bench. (And Ronnie has her mother's phone so, this plot can work)

Maria does wake up and they on a search for each other.  This whole segment has some great comedic moments so, many to count.  I like how the scene plays out  with video game style and music.   This episode is really creative in it's style, I'll give it that. I like how Ronnie Anne and Maria still do random things while searching. (Also, watch the pigeon in the background, it has it's own thing going on there)

The two of them end up together again. Ronnie Anne helps her mother get some rest that she needs. It's a nice sweet ending, that was set up in the start. (Nice Flintstones' reference episode)  At the end they do end up going to work with Ronnie Anne going out with her mother to work.

Another fine episode, I like seeing Ronnie and her mother's relationship. The comedy was well timed and brings a lot here. Hope they bring us more of Ronnie Anne and her mother's relationship in the future. I give this 10/10. It's that strong.

That's it for now.  Tune in next time, when we create Robot wrestling.
