The Casagrandes   Nickelodeon

If you missed our look at Episode 1 you can read that here.   Now our journey continues with episode 2

           Episode 2A:  New Haunts

Oh, it's Halloween. ( I'm suing our Calendar, unless you are reading this in October then, sure alright)  Ronnie Anne and Sid are invited to a Halloween party with sixth graders. (They're fifth graders) This means Ronnie Anne won't be able to go her brother's haunted house, which is tradition, does the haunted house thing come back up later? Yes, Yes it does.

Sid is dressed as a Lobster and Ronnie Anne is a gumball machine. At the party, they find out that apparently sixth graders in this universe don't wear costumes. (What is this world? Why?)  They attempt to wear stay at the party with their costumes and that becomes a mess.  So, they leave.  Meanwhile, Bobby works with his cousins Carl and CJ to make a great haunted presentation.

The girls find another place to party for Halloween but, first they ditch their costumes. Since, apparently an external force is out to get them; guess what happens when they try to attend this second party?  They need costumes. (This party has a bouncer, why?)  I will note, I like how Sid uses France as her answer to things, it's fun.

They get their costumes back from the trash which, apparently smell bad now.  They are allowed in to the skateboard party.  There's a moment where the classic stay up in the air until they realize it thing happens; that's a fun touch.   Sadly, they are kicked out of this party.

Good thing that mercado haunted party thing was happening because now, the girls can have a great Halloween right there.  The episode ends with copyright safe Thriller.

The episode is simple, yet fun and effective. Ronnie Ann and Sid wanted to have a great first Halloween in the city  so, you feel bad that the things didn't go well for them but happy they did in the end. I like how Bobby wasn't really sad or bothered his sister wanted to break tradition and try something new, it shows his supportive side while you also see him showing his younger cousins his tradition.   The episode is a fun experience and brings a simple plot to a good shine. I give it 8.5/10.

    More after the Jump

        Episode 2B: Croaked!

Day of the Dead is sometimes confused as "Mexican Halloween" when it's a separate thing all together. This episode explains that the day is for families to honor their love ones who have died.  The main plot for this episode is Sid's sister, Adelaide, is feeling sad because her pet frog has died.  Sid wants to help her feel better and before she can get the finish the rest of the meaning of the holiday as she and Ronnie Anne go to cheer up Adelaide.

Also, in this episode : Pay attention to Carl  there's a fun pay off at the end.  So the girls tell Adelaide that her dead frog, Froggy, would visit for this day from the dead, or that's how the young girl interrupts it.   So they get an idea, a replacement to frog to pretend to be Froggy.

They convince the girl and it works, Adelaide and the Frog spend time together.  That's not the end of this episode, in the least.  Adelaide now wants to raise from the dead, her great Aunt Millie, Mr.Woodford, and Abe Lincoln. Sid and Ronnie Anne recruit Carlos to play as Lincoln, while the two girls pretend to be Aunt Millie.

The plan falls apart when they try to be Mr. Woodford (becuase he was a poodle)  The girls go back to Rosa to fix the mistake they made.  She fixes things by explaining what the day means and that memories of those past gone keep them "alive" in our hearts.

The rental frog shows up and Sid gets him for Adelaide.  I won't give away the Carl thing , but it's a great pay off.

It's a great episode, many in the audience might not know what Day of the Dead is (I'm not an expert of what it is either)  and it brings a great experience to make people understand what it is about.  I think it's very sweet what Sid and Ronnie Anne did to help ,even though it had some mistakes , the intentions were good.   If this show's theme wants to be about family; then this one is a good example of that.

Carlos being Abe Lincoln was fun, I like how is character seems to be a "go with the flow" kind of character.

That's it for now, tune in next time when we undo  bringing Glover Cleveland from the dead.
