The Really Loud House: Season 2: Episode 5: Louder by the Dozen

 The Really Loud House Nickelodeon

Episode 5: Louder by the Dozen

In the live-action version Clyde has been way more part of the series than he has been in the animated.  He is pretty much Lincoln's brother and pretty much another part of the Loud family in all but name.  This episode having Lincoln explicitly say that Clyde is 12th Loud makes sense and was nice that it was acknowledged.  In the previous episode, Zia was introduced and quickly she has made a bond with the Lynn and the Louds as a whole.   This causes discontent with Clyde because he feels the family is starting to like Zia more than him.

When Lori returns, Clyde kind of snaps into sullen person.  Also don't do a drinking game on how many times this episodes mentions cake.  I really like Lincoln in this episode, it's a nice reverse of the last episode where Clyde was there for him. Lincoln decides to stick with Clyde the entire time.  When Zia also gets a 12th Loud jacket - which is confusing, that's when Lincoln decides to stick with him and not leave.

Here is where I'll point out that probably Clyde could come off as a little bad in this episode  since he is causing Lincoln to miss out on the family party for Lori's return , which is an interesting idea for a party,  and that really isn't fair to Lincoln. I can see that he is really shaken by the idea that he does care and connect with the Louds and would hate to know that he could be replaced. I think this fits well in where we are in the show. Clyde has been shown to be very much part of the family and Lincoln's life so he doesn't want to be disconnected and wants the ones that aren't Lincoln, to remember him.

Lincoln decides to bring in Rusty, Liam, and Zach, who I've mentioned before that in this version of the show, they seem to be friends but somewhat less detached than they end up being in the main series.  Also here, they are of no help, they kind of just get carried away in the party. I guess that really is the show's way of showing Lincoln's drive to help Clyde no matter what.

Eventually Clyde decides to have him and Lincoln move to his house to get away from the party.  The oddest running gag in this episode is people having rip away pants and shorts for swimwear, I'm concerned.  Also Lincoln can watch his house from Clyde's house via telescope.  He decides to escape, but not because he wants to just go to the party- he does- but he leaves to get stuff about Zia to find away to see if they have anything in common  and maybe makes it easier for Clyde to like Zia.

Lincoln decides to peek and look at Zia from the sidelines to see stuff, but apparently the show is deciding that might be developing a crush on her.  He even writes something on a paper and drops it. He decides the better plan is to just talk to her and find out stuff that'll match Clyde. I do like that he again does focus and makes sure he goes back to make sure things work for Clyde.    I do hope, because does figure out that Lincoln left, that he figured out because phone recording voices don't sound like the real thing.

Lincoln tells Clyde that he went to find out what Clyde and Zia could get along with.  Lincoln ends up kind of mentioning stuff  that he might like instead.  Zia shows up, we don't ask questions.  She talks to Clyde and says she's sorry for being  too there too much and making it feel like she's stepping on his toes. There's also a nice moment that she gave him a note on the back of his , she found it, and says that Lincoln is an amazing friend. Clyde tells Lincoln go tell her he likes her. Go son run!

Now, I wonder if the show is running to quickly, I wonder what will happen.  In this episode over time there has been a noticeable amount of time that Lincoln has been hit, by Lynn, with sports thing, and that was shown in the montage, so it happens here when Lincoln tries to talk to Zia. So why?
She tells Lincoln in a round about way, that she doesn't think Lincoln should be with Zia because you know, new friend and stuff.

Lincoln decides that he's going to tamp down a bit and just say friendship for now.

This episode flowed really well, I liked that it kept Lincoln on a track and he knew to make sure he didn't do something over Clyde. While it was wrong for Clyde to hold Lincoln there, Lincoln was under no real force to stay with Clyde,  he chose too and that's admirable.  I do like the Lincoln and Zia interactions and maybe it was smart to make sure they didn't just have Lincoln and Zia be a couple so quickly, but they did also want to add drama.  Disappointed that the red head squad weren't strong bros.  Sad. It's a really good episode. 8/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time when we wonder why Mr. Ratburn from Arthur is here... oh yeah cake.
