The Really Loud House: Season 2: Episode 3: The Tennessee Surprise

 The Really Loud House Nickelodeon

 Episode 3: The Tennessee Surprise

The title sounds like a drink or a [redacted].   It's a Lincoln and Charlie plot, where the show shows its weak spot.   Lincoln wants to surprise his girlfriend, Charlie, with a hot air balloon ride in Tennessee, where the show makes me think they think that Tennessee is just one spot  like they just don't even mention a city or town they just go and say yeah there you go.  Lincoln has also spent a month not answering Charlie's phone calls and I'm sure that'll have no barring at all in what happens.

They have some other subplots.  So the show has decided that Lily uses diapers because maybe some Nick guy thought that would be fun to mention what diaper's hold  so minus 2pts.   None of the Loud girls want to change it and Lynn Sr. decides to do a speech about how they are a family and are supposed to be there for each other even with that.  He decides that he's going to give each girl a role to play with taking care of Lily and that descends into something.  Then Lynn Sr. thinks he's done such a great job that he should write a parenting book.

Rita is trying to finish her newspaper column and that's mostly there as part of the episode because Lynn Sr. will be annoying her for a bit.

Mr. Bolhofner was fun this episode as he decides to help Lincoln on his quest for love.  I do find it nice and charming that he was doing that.  Keep that minus 2pts in mind since there are thing with him I'm also putting in that -2 there.  He also gets to an unhinged moment where he goes to an ex-girlfriend's house with the help of Lincoln and Clyde to get a dog , big mean dog, back. It's strange , it's funny and it works.

The Loud sisters each take their job and end up putting Lily to bed, that went well. What goes wrong was Lisa was helping Leni explain what a shooting star was and ends up making Leni fear the end of the world. They end up now trying to help Leni , though bonking her on the head helps her sleep.

Lincoln has made it Tennessee (the entire state!) and we have found out that Charlie has a new boyfriend.  I'm a little confused that she was trying to call him for 28 days because she already found a new one, or he ended up being one because he kept ignoring her for 28 days.  That's unhelpful and strange.

Lynn Sr. realizes he didn't do the best job, but the whole family decides to go to get Lincoln after they find out he's had his heart broken.

The Charlie and Lincoln plots are the weakest thing in this series, in my view, mostly the idea of having the young romance thing be oddly placed in the show and never really doing anything of sense with it.  Like having Charlie end up moving back to the state she was introduced as coming from in the first place.  In this episode 4 things: 1) Lincoln thinking that it made sense to ignore her calls for 28 days because he didn't want to spoil a surprise was a choice. They wrote that and thought it was good idea.  It's doesn't make sense for anyone, even Lincoln.  2) Texting exists , he could have texted her and said I can't talk because I have a surprise, or asked Clyde to talk to her for him , something else.  3) Charlie's part was even odder in how she some how ended up taking time in her day for 28 days to call Lincoln and then get ignored. A normal person would have probably, normal humans, living people, would probably you know give up after at least day 15?  4) Also, she could have texted him, the show forgot texting exists?  Why was it 28 days?   Also, wait was Charlie calling about?  She says that's why she was trying to call him? So like on day 1? She was going to go like "Hey Lincoln, I have a new boyfriend?" Something felt missing in the writing there.  They did have time for  angry dog though.

Lynn Sr. was fun here, the fun with the live-action version of his character is that instead of being a dumb guy so sticking in the animated series doing the same thing, he's kind of  more egotistical and gets caught up in thinking that he did such a great job that he should write a book, but then gets distracted by making the cover and etc. is  funny.   Rita did some great reactions here too.

The sisters' plot was alright too. There's not much I can dip into there.  This episode was fine to a point, weak in parts  doesn't take away too much from the episode.  7/10.

That's it for now , tune in next time when we use a hot air balloon to warn people about something.
