The Really Loud House Nickelodeon
Episodes 1 and 2: Musical to Remember
It's the last day of summer vacation and Clyde is back from French camp. I'm not sure if the camp was in France or just based on French stuff, nobody knows. There's also some other stuff like the twins have gotten their teeth to grow in , which is a plot line the animated show didn't do and could have done with the a new future. That comes in play more than one would think this episode. Lincoln decides to eat jelly beans that say don't eat, because Lisa has made memory erasing jelly beans. That also means that she decided to leave them out in the public instead of not, because plot reasons.
So yes Lincoln ate them and lost his memory. The doctor has decided to tell the family that the best idea of fixing memory is to do singing. Which is the most interesting way to do a musical thing. This is a fun thing. There are a bunch of songs this episode which goes through different genres. Also, Lori wants to tell her family that she wants to leave golf college and there we go some more drama.
I will note that Lynn's song though tries to do the classic sitcom idea that getting hit in the head would help undo Lincoln's amnesia. Like I said, the episode decides to do different genres of music including showtimes and references to real things. The parents really want to do showtunes.
Lori still worries about telling her family about her wanting to quit golf college. She and Bobby even get a song. Random brain surgery fake out.
I do have to point out this episode is two parts and mostly focused on a having songs move the plot along. Also it makes more sense it has a recap song more finding out this is two episodes. I love the part with Leni trying to tell Lily that things will be alright and gives a song that is pretty song. It's a different thing for Leni's character.
Luna tries to use the power of song to bring back Lincoln's memories, using "Heart and Soul" a song that this show made Luna and Lincoln's song. Of course there being like 10 more minutes left, meant no. Later she gets a really upbeat song that she's too sad to rock n' roll.
Lincoln decides to leave, not sure where he's going, and the family is sad and decides to wipe their own memories out too. Wow. Thankfully, the emotional power of this has caused him to cry jelly beans which is um is that safe? This also allows Lori to tell her family about the idea of leaving golf college which seems to be something. Lola and Lana get their teeth thing part.
Lisa has decided to mess electricity and let the schools get closed down for one more day.
As a story it was light because the main focus was the music parts and that's what worked here for a story about a boy getting amnesia. The fun was how many genres and types of songs they fit in here and putting together a story of how much they care about Lincoln I liked how the parents were given tons of showtunes and musical references.
The 2nd half or episode was pretty good at now making everything feel like we were running out of time and the stress of the situation getting to the family. Then the part of them all deciding they'll eat the jelly beans to lose their own memories was an impactful moment.
I liked how the teeth thing was done for the twins as this show seems to be doing some things that make it worth it being around with the animated version being around. The twins getting their teeth in would have probably been a bigger thing if Lincoln didn't have amnesia or Lori's plot of wanting to leave golf college.
I liked how the songs blended well into the story, and it decided to do something where the songs were very much ingrained as part of the story. Beyond the parents, Lynn's song was good as she was doing an aggressive song that mentions the idea of just hitting it out of him, Clyde's song was something that showed his character's friendship and bond with Lincoln. Luna's song being rock themed and a happy sounding sad song is a nice touch. Show did song where the visuals were focused on the toilet and not be weird.
This was a fun episode. I enjoyed it a lot. It was a grand start to a second season.
That's it for now, tune in next time when we forget something.
