The Loud House: Season 7: Episode 14: Hunn-Cutt Gems/ Can't Lynn 'Em All

 The Loud House Nickelodeon

Episode 14a: Hunn-Cutt Gems

It's good to get an episode focused on Liam and not using Lynn as a factor [not that I'm against that]. Much like the two previous Zach episodes it leans on a crutch where Clyde episodes seem to not need as much. That's having the other friends be the starting fire to the episode. Liam is doing his cameraman thing for the news thing with Rusty doing the reporting. Rusty gets knocked out of commission, literally, and apparently show doesn't know how to news. Lincoln has Liam try to fill in space instead. Liam decides to show off some farm stuff.  (Why did Rusty have a 4 minute segment? That's not very action of their news)

Liam becomes well-liked (of course)  and everyone at the school thinks farm life is interesting. I will add this episode decides to give Rusty hints of jealousy it's kind of strange, but not out of character for him to want attention, but does really nothing with it. It's just there. I'm not even asking for a pull plot on that, just thought it would go somewhere.  It also becomes slightly annoying.

So, Liam's encouraged to make more.  Liam's character gets to shine here with his simple charm he has. He shows off stuff that he does at the farm and naturally. Liam's personality works for this and brings believably to how the other kids would be charmed by a life at the farm video. I do wonder if there are other farm kids, or why Liam is the only kid from a farm that goes to the town's schools.  (Questions  so many)

Liam is a hit.  He decides to do more to please people. Which again fits his character of wanting to see others happy while also be happy that people are interested in farm life.  I will put a note that I wish they had used the episode to show any more of Liam's family, besides his grandma and the animals. That would have been nice.  Things go down after the montage as the fickle masses have moved on to the lunch lady and the kangaroo doing videos. (That's a sentence there)

He decides to now force things to get back on top, this is the part of the episode where things go that way. I will say the episode doesn't try to force Liam way out of bounds to do this, but shows how a bit of fame can effect decision making.  I'm glad he has sentient animals do random things with like fake a stampede, that'd be bad otherwise.

Looks at the time, uh wrap this fellows, we're running out of time.  Liam decides to do a run away tractor because umm sure, and this plan goes bad. But how does it... his MeeMaw was sleeping the tractor he decided to let hurdle towards a pond. (Joey eyes meme)  Thankfully, Liam isn't arrested for man-slaughter and saves his grandma but not the tractor. He realizes his mistake, and decides to calm down and not do any more high stunt videos.  He submits a calmer video and Rusty gets taken out by a kangaroo because thank you.

This is a good episode. It's simple  and gives Liam a good time to shine. It follows on his characterization well , while giving a good conflict for him. It works because he does get over his head on the personal encouragement he was getting , but the episode doesn't fall into a bad he gets too much ego plot. I'm glad it keeps it that way. I did think that Rusty being jealous or showing it was going to be part of the plot more, but was just kind of there. I'm glad it didn't since it would been out of place for the plot, it did seem to be oddly placed too.  I think it was a good episode, strong. 7.8/10.

More after the jump

Episode 14b: Can't Lynn 'Em All

This episode is fun and little strange. Lynn and Lincoln are at a wrestling match. Yes, they are. A wrestler named Meat Mountain (uhh) decides to challenge everyone to a fight and then calls everyone a chicken thus causing Lynn to beat him up.  (Not Geraldo Rivera: You know wrestling is fake...ouch)  The promoter , Bella Big Bucks (Big Bucks is a family name) comes up and asks Lynn if she would like to be a wrestler, and says that pro wrestling is staged.

Lincoln and then Leni decide to help Lynn with her wrestling persona. Leni likes to watch wrestling, she's into the storylines. Anyway, Lynn becomes the Brawl Monitor, a nice remembering that she's the school hall monitor.  Bella makes Lynn the good guy in the wrestling stories against the "bad guys.

It goes well until she has to fight Tippy the Cow, which the show has decided to just make Dairyland and Dairyland accessories their go to thing.  Bella wants Lynn to let Tippy win, but then she messes that up,  and then Bella decides to make Lynn the villain character. Now people boo, her. (I thought they were saying boo-urns) and apparently take it seriously enough. (Meryl spit balls  a student, she's so fired)

Lynn doesn't like this, and decides to tell Bella she doesn't want to be a villain anymore, but Bella is like eh.  Lynn's next opponent is uh what?  Hold on what?   Santa Claus?   I wish I was joking. There's a Santa themed wrestler, or the real Santa? because the writers decided to really go with the random here, or this is a true Christmas episode. Lynn doesn't want to take down Santa Claus, even though she is set up to win.   Santa doesn't want to beat Lynn (not sure why good guy taking down bad guy would be bad, but alright) and it becomes a match of them two them doing anything to get the other to fight them, even fake fighting.

This episode is weird. Lynn fakes it to where Santa wins. Then she decides to quit.

This episode is weird, but not bad. It's a pretty fun Lynn romp.  It was nice to have Lincoln be there in the start just watching wrestling with Lynn, and later Leni showing up to help was also a nice touch.  I like that it did have people taking the wresting seriously but not going so hard to where it turns bad to watch.  It's a simple, straight forward episode with some fun moments and worked well, I enjoyed it.  I give it 7.8/10.

That does it for now, tune in next time, when we saw Mommy wrestle Santa Claus.
