The Really Loud House: Season 1: Episode 16: Spelling and Doorbelling

 The Really Loud House  Nickelodeon

Episode 16: Spelling and Doorbelling

This episode makes me wonder if "Ding Dong Ditch" is a thing still. That was Lincoln and Clyde's starting point for their plot. They've apparently done it to every house in Royal Woods, but one- Mr. Grouse.  Luan pops in to warn them that pranking Mr. Grouse is a bad idea and well we need a plot here so they'll do that anyway.

When they do, it goes bad, because this Mr. Grouse is also a prankster and declares a prank war. This goes as you'd expect. Luan decides to help Lincoln and Clyde try to prank the man and it's more back and forth.  I enjoyed this, it was fun they do remember Luan is a prankster and having Lincoln and Clyde not really be good at them, and really they were only trying to ring a door bell, was a good touch. It was also fun to see this version of Mr. Grouse be so unhinged.

The main plot I really enjoy was that this show also did a Lisa and Lynn plot like the animated show. It gave a nice moment to Lisa that she felt a bit overshadowed by Lynn when Lynn comes home after winning a game and no one noticed her recent achievement.  It was fun to see her asking baseball questions to Lynn, and find out that she was trying for a baseball thing herself. It was something sweet and this was interesting.   It's a different way to have  Lisa's character feel a way and want to impress her older sister, it's not something we've seen much. I really loved "Friday Night Fights" from the animated version, because it did a good job for Lynn's character and had Lisa interested in doing something with her.  This plot was a great bonus to see how it worked.

Lynn finds out that Lisa's baseball thing is like some air baseball, like not playing real baseball with bats and balls, but inside and a team spelling words against another team. Lynn showed up her team and the team laughs at it, Lynn doesn't , but she is also a little befuddled by whatever that was.  There's even a moment where Lisa is mad at Lynn, but does let Lynn talk to her and what Lynn decides to do when she finds out about the baseball thing not doing well, to help her and her team get to work. These are some great moments and characterizations.  I enjoyed this alot.

Eventually, the Lincoln-Clyde vs. Grouse plot turns dark when they think they killed Mr. Grouse. Then, the twist being that they didn't manslaughter a guy, but also that Luan was helping Grouse. The two of them are a pranking duo. It was actually kind of fun that this show did change something about his character from the animated, to where he  is less "Get off My Lawn" and more at least has a funny side and gets along with Luan. It's kind of a giveaway that Luan was helping them because she was helping Grouse, but if they had listened to her in the first place, this wouldn't have happened. It was a fun plot.

Lynn's game is the same night as Lisa's game thing and she tells Lisa she's going to her own thing and this makes Lisa feel down again. Lynn gets a change of heart and makes again a nice turn around to the plot.  It was a fun plot, I enjoyed seeing it and it was very well done and interesting. I like the show doing a dynamic with these two sisters in a fun and interesting way. This was a good one I give it 8/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time when Scripps steals the idea to make the next spelling bee also a baseball game.
