Episode 8 : The Manager with the Planager

Clyde is watching a group of bucket drummers and he wants to be part of them but is nervous, Lincoln believes that Clyde needs a little push. That's when he becomes a manager, the title of the episode, and helps Clyde try to get over his stage freight. This leads to another plot where Leni has accidently gotten some extra credit in her history class and now she has a chance to get an A if she does well on her oral report. Also also,  it's odd for a show to make a Joan Rivers expy  , just over 8 years after she died. A Carol Burnett expy would be just fine, but anyway Luan has news (she has news!) that she gets to be the opening act for Joan Shivers (I'm shivering) who is going to be at the retirement home. (That place is rich wow)  There's also a running gag where Lynn Sr. wants Lincoln to manage his group, The Doo-Dads.

In Leni's plot, I like that there's a plot where Leni is trying to study to get a good grade, it's not something we've seen in the animated series, so a good thing for this show to do something a little different. Luna decides to help Leni, which brings a nice sister dynamic that we don't see much and it's really just her helping with no other motives.  Luna decides that a song could help so she makes a song about Calvin Coolidge which is not something  I was expecting.  It was fun.  Luna apparently knows a lot about our 30th president. (Good ole silent Cal which is oddly not mentioned)

In Lincoln and Cylde's plot, it first connects with Luan's slightly where Lincoln has Clyde doing the drumming for her comedy act. He seems to be doing well. Then he's brought into Leni and Luna's plot to drum for Luna's song.  Later, Clyde doesn't like that the performance of the Bucket Brothers has been moved up because of his still nervousness. Lincoln tells him he should just dive in and forget the fear.

In Luan's plot, after she does her opening act for Joan Shivers (I'm shivering) she sees Joan Shivers after the lady does her act. (Which has alot of death jokes)  I will give props for having Vicki Lawrence on the show! Anyway, Luan goes to see her and  Joan didn't like Luan's act. Luan asks for advice but Joan tells her she should just give up. Which is sad, one of Luan's heroes and not being seen any good by her is really a crushing thing.  I think they did this better here than the animated episode with the same idea.  Lynn Sr. tries to tell her not to give up and don't give up on her dreams.

I like how the three plots have a meshing together when it has Luna, Leni, Luan, and Clyde singing together. The song sounds like it was "Hello" but copyright safe.  It also ties theme well and about dreams going wrong and what do you do? It's a good song.

Luna talks to Leni to see he she's doing, and realizes that Leni does know things, she knows history through clothes, Luna gets the idea to help by using fashion to learn history and succeeds in her oral report. Lynn Sr. decides to help Luan by using a puppet of his own to make Luan happy and encourages her to give it another try. She seems to do well and even Joan liked it. Lincoln decides to quit being Clyde's manager and apologizes.  In the end Clyde decides to show up and take a chance to dive in and perform.

This was a nicely tightly done episode. It had a nice theme of going with your dreams and trying hard to achieve them. Leni had a goal of getting A and worked hard to achieve it. It was nice to see Luna try to help with that. It does use something we see a lot where a character is shown to be able to learn a different way, but it does it creatively to not be a forced thing. Luan  had to get over a bad show and it was nice to see Lynn Sr. who was spending the episode trying to get Lincoln to be his agent do the message of don't give up. Clyde's part was good and showing that Lincoln did get too wrapped up in  the idea but did have the right mindset of trying to help Clyde. Clyde wanted to do something and he to push himself.  I liked this episode, it was very well done. I give it 7.5/10.

That's it for now , tune in next time when manage your next project into a being a one hit wonder!
