The Really Loud House: Season 1 : Episode 6: I Wanna Hold Your Hand

The Really Loud House Nickelodeon

Episode 6: I wanna Hold Your Hand

There's a big middle school event called the Kangaroo Hop. Liam is filming a documentary for the school news.  The episode goes for that "Modern Family" vibe of having those interview segments.  Lincoln sees Charlie, the new girl whom in this series has an affection for, with Rusty and having a good time. They ended up dating- or something- if you remembered "The Belmish Delmish". Lincoln is not seething with jealousy which is a good sign, and says he's happy to be a good friend with Charlie.

The smaller tidbits in the episodes are Lynn is watching a baseball game, which seems to be the more interesting thing. (Baseball is fun) Clyde has a date for the dance too, a chiropractor's daughter. His dads want to capture the moment he holds her hand, (woah calm down, that's a bit too far; holding hands wow) they also think that the Louds didn't invite them over, more on that later.  Lori talks about her winning the Queen of the Kangaroo Hop when she was in middle school.

We see Lincoln doing very with Charlie, by impressing her and stuff.  Lynn's baseball watching ties into the episode. There's a no hitter at the baseball game and warns Lincoln that if someone thinks they are doing great that they begin to overthink and lose it. That's just in time for Lori just to say what Lynn said would be bad to say.  A classic sitcom thing. Lynn then explains that Lori jinxed him.  This now gets into Lincoln's head because he wasn't aware he was doing great and starts to slip.

The McBrides thinking the Louds having Clyde with them and not inviting them part dies pretty quickly as Lynn Sr. sees them in the stalking van (my words) and finds out they were invited and they come in.  (That resolved itself well).

More after the jump

Lincoln's overthinking comes up he takes some words Charlie said and thinks she was being sarcastic and then blurts out that he's taking a sister with him instead. (A Nun?) The episode is good at making me feel awkward for the characters.  Actually asking a sister and a sister saying yes doesn't work out at all.  Then it gets worse, when Lincoln says to Charlie he doesn't like her. (His mind broke)  He wasn't meaning to be mean, but it sure was stupid.

I like how there's stuff going on around a girl watching a baseball game right in the middle of it. Anyway, Charlie is hurt, Lincoln realizes he did something stupid. Also Baseball also works with plot. (Baseball) Liam comes to Lincoln's room and talks to him. Also leaves the camera on when Lincoln says not to, but we needed it for plot convenience.  Lincoln gives a heartfelt how he feels about Charlie and that he feels bad. (I think she'll she this bro)

Thanks to Liam working on the footage at the right, Charlie overhears what Lincoln to Liam on the camera. (Overhears meaning walking in and listening)  The McBride parents don't get their moment of their son having hot hand holding action. (What?)  Charlie and Lincoln patch up and we find out that Charlie and Rusty broke up 2 weeks ago. (oh ok)

A sweet Loud parents moment and the episode ends sweetly. With the song the Power of Love by Huey Lewis and the News.

The episode is pretty good , it combines a good mixture of little things into a nice package.  On the Lincoln and Charlie stuff:  the character  does need personality to get to know her and would hope through episodes there would be some getting to know her, since she's not a character in the main series.  I don't mind the concept, but it would be nice to explore that, it was still early when this post was made so take that here future readers.

Lynn's baseball plot working into the episode more than I thought it would.  I also like how Lynn decides to take Lincoln to the dance when the game was over, she didn't need to, but it was sweet.  Charlie comes in and takes our pinch hitter though.  It was a cozy episode, well done. 8/10.

That's it for now , tune in next time when we leave a camera on and see what happens.
