The Really Loud House : Season 1: Episode 3: The Blemish Dilemish

 The Really Loud House  Nickelodeon

                    Episode 3: The Blemish Dilemish

So the episode starts with  Lisa not feeling well and Lynn Sr. not wanting to take her to the doctor because medical bills. (I'm not touching that)  Lisa thinks its appendicitis but it was gas (which is why and a few more moments of gas, knocking off 1pt) and it costs over $300.50 (not touching that either).  Meanwhile, we do get to see the news team make their first appearance, meaning Lincoln's friend squad.  Lincoln is looking for story ideas for the newscast thing.  This episode is going to mention the phrase butt pimple a lot and I was going to take off a .1 pt for each time, but I'll just take off 1.2pts and because I don't feel like counting.

So I do have to note that that I like how this show does have it's own parts and movements so it doesn't feel like an exact copy since that would kind of make this feel unnecessary. I like that apparently Rusty has is own show as well. (apparently there's ratings)  Also they make a Oprah giving away stuff reference with Rusty on his show. We are aware that happened in September of 2004 right? That's many years ago, they don't even make  Pontiac anymore so current joke?  (This is sounding mean, maybe slightly)  I do like the idea that apparently  Rusty has his own show though, that's not something that happened in the animated series (unless...) but it does give us something and for our plot.

A new girl. There's a girl named Charlie and the school newscast apparently does a segment  where the new student talks to them. That sounds horrifying. (It's like the classic student is introduced to a classroom , but worse) Lincoln sees Charlie and the people from "Big Nate" had gotten the rights to use Dream Weaver for their show so might as well use it here too. (twice!)  Lincoln is smitten. I don't mind that Lincoln has a crush on a character, it's something the main show has done, but there he's not with anyone as long term thing, and the only real problem here is it feels like random forced hey look new girl, let's have him like her because sure.  It's been done a lot.  Rusty makes a Ten-I-see pick up line when he sees Charlie. If this was another character I'd be like show  has someone's granddad writing the jokes I see, but it fits Rusty , so yay!

Back to the Lynn Sr. plot.  He's nervous about having to take a kid to the doctor and a medical bill so, he finds fun and inventive ways to help his kids.  It leads to Lisa apparently getting shot with an arrow and I find it funny how casual she is about it.  Rita comes home and stops Lynn from trying to pull out an arrow. She sees a doctor come out of his house and decides the best idea is to befriend him to get free medical stuff. (makes sense) I found the parent plot line to be slightly more engaging, because....  you'll see after the jump.

Can't believe Lincoln died /Copyright Paramount

Lincoln was so smitten with Charlie that he flubs the segment and he decides to mention he has a butt pimple and yep. (That's why the points are already minused ) He is now embarrassed and goes home gets some ragging from Leni, Luan, 'Mr.Coconuts', and Luna.  He decides to lie down the grave hole Lucy made earlier.  I do like here that the sisters first rag on him then see he's a down and decide to help him with his problem. It's a nice balance of flow and done pretty well. I think there is some good writing in this series.

The parents' plan to get the doctor to befriend is funny. Rita doing a southern belle character was random and funny.  They are able to use fried chicken... (random) to get him to come over to the house and decide try and keep him around a bit longer to get him information by using a game to find out how to get stuff done, but the doctor figures it out. He decides to let them have one kid get treatment on something. The Lincoln plot merges into this one where he'll treat the pimple. (odd, I guess Lisa is alright.)

Oh yeah diaper.  That dinner was like at 8PM , but for time and plot reasons Charlie shows up at like 10pm or whatever to bring school work because he wasn't at school and she sees him in the diaper thing so, things are going plot wise. The fun part is the next day, the school news, covers him the next day because sure.  Clyde is right, the news will do anything for ratings,  I'm getting social commentary on my whatever this is.

Rusty has Lincoln on his show to talk to him. What I think works is Lincoln decides to get over humiliation  and does a speech  done by a 40-year-old writer. (Didn't have to do that) it apparently goes over well and yeah even a slow clap thing. Charlie meets up with him and but nah they aren't getting together (calm down you reading this post)  but it seems Rusty has impressed her. (Lincoln, dodged bullet, there's something wrong with her)

I did find this episode weaker than the first two, but that's mostly due to how it's dragging out the pimple thing. There are some jokes that didn't land. I do think it was an interesting episode, enjoyed the parents part more, but I liked Lincoln's story with again those exceptions.  The Charlie part wasn't bad, just find it kind of cliché on how she was introduced and the whole new kid thing.  It's otherwise fine, good episode with my points and stuff 6.8/10.

That's it for now , tune in next time when the Louds have to sell their kidneys for extra cash.
