The Really Loud House: Season 1: Episode 2: The Chore Thing

 The Really Loud House Nickelodeon

Episode 2: The Chore Thing

This episode takes a slightly different direction than  the first episode. Instead of having a single plot leading from Lincoln wanting to do something and having it surrounded by that; it takes of the approach of there being a single theme to the plot but having different split off sub plots connected to it.  There is Lincoln who wants to do virtual beach fun with Clyde because it's the last day they can use these fancy virtual reality goggles.  But it's chore day at the house.

Lynn Sr. wants his kids to clean the house. Lincoln has a idea to get out of it: by being incompetent. He knows his dad will take over the job if he screws it up.  The episode sets up a few things like Lisa having do the bathroom and she has a new special invention. (what could go wrong)  Lynn Sr. has to make sure he doesn't lose trick of Lilly.  That's part of the plot.  Meanwhile the other things that happens, Lucy and Lola (which a fun sister pairing)  are going to watch a scary movie in the basement, so nobody will find them, which sets off something for the episode coming up.

I like the moments with Leni getting focused on doing her closet instead of chores and then wanting to do a new wardrobe. I think live-action Leni (who is different actress than the Christmas movie) has a little more of an edge to her character than the animated one, it's not bad, but it is an interesting direction.  Lynn Sr. tries to get Leni to get back on track, but gets distracted by Luna doing loud music instead of cleaning windows.

Lynn will be playing a running gag through the episode where she is a sports caster, doing play by play of what's going. It's a pretty funny thing.  Clyde uh speaks too much and causes Lynn Sr. to find out what Lincoln was going to do and now Lincoln has to mow the lawn.  Lilly is with Lisa and the machine goes off and Lisa thinks Lilly has been zapped away. (remember that)  Lincoln wants to get out the chore still so he had Lana make the lawn mower have more power. (grunts)

Things are unraveling at the Loud House while Lincoln and Clyde get arrested for speeding. (they mowed down the road)  In the basement, Lola begins to fear that there could be a monster down there and they get stuck because of classic sitcom plot of door knob falling off and being locked down there. Lincoln and Clyde help stop the Milkshake Gang from committing ice cream gang.  That doesn't get them out of the speeding ticket,  but that plan to be incompetent seems to work to get them out of doing chores for the police.

More after the jump

The rest of the Louds end up in the basement, locked in there. Lincoln comes home and thinks his father and sisters were eaten by the Milkshake gang. (Which is oh my )  Lola gets some story development as she's puts aside her fears to get the door knob and get the out of the basement. Lincoln prays to have his family come back, which of course, they hear and there's a happy ending.

This one takes a nice route and different from the animated show and the first episode. There's a main plot, but broken up into different characters doing different things  as part of the thing. There are some funny moments, like the rated -G gang , but also the dark story of a group that ate people as milkshakes.  I like they have been keeping Lynn Sr. in character too, he's not too dumb to live dad, so they kept him normal in the show, which is nice. He gets distracted because he was trying to keep his family on focus. (Ironic) There's a lot of fun going on with this and this episode does it well.  I think the mad-cap loose style worked well too.  I give it 8.5/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time when we sue Lincoln and Clyde for mowing everything but our grass.
