Episode 21 : Great Lakes Freakout!

So we don't question how Halloween works right with these shows? Alright.  Anyway Lincoln and Lori are on their way to Great Lakes City because Lori wants to see Bobby because she thinks Halloween is romantic. (The movie is very romantic) She wants to wear the same costumes as  her parents wore on their first Halloween date.  Anyway, the plot shows up, Ronnie Anne can't trick or treat because the Casagrandes are working on a contest for a commercial because Ernesto Esterella is showing up because yeah. Remember Rosa really likes him  and wants him to be impressed by how decorated it was and her horchata. (remember that, that comes up into our plot)

Sergio messes up their decorations, thankfully that's all the Sergio for the episode.  Most of part 1 of this special is  Lincoln going "Hey I have an idea... then go get insert person here" Like it starts with Lucy and Boris tags along.  Also there's a mistake where you see Leni there then later Lincoln, to help Carlota, says why not get Leni?  (mistakes were made)  Like I said, it's pretty much Lincoln going I have an idea to help a problem and Lori going to get someone to help. (Glad Great Lakes City and Royal Woods are like 5 inches away)  It is fun to see the Casagrandes characters interact with Boris.

Vito shows up to throw mores stuff into the plot where he mentions the other neighborhood shops are doing stuff too. Lisa shows up because her family was rude this time, and it works well to have her with the part where Carlos wants someone to talk Halloween facts about.   Lincoln suggests getting Lana to help with those cats from the Casagrandes world.  (meow)  Vito plays his role again and Lincoln decides to ask Lucy to summon a ghost, because that's how this thing works now.  Lucy has a spell book to call up a ghost and the show has Buzz, the ghost, return

Buzz seems to be willing to help make the Mercado spooky. (He was not)  Buzz decides to buzz off and switched to a different place. He was dead weight. (boo)  Thanks to Lucy leaving her spell book anywhere some rando could get it, Carl finds it and decides maybe he could scare up a new ghost to fix the problem. But first join us after the jump.

Carl has the spell book and that's the scariest thing in this special.  Carl ends up bringing up zombies. I will say that yeah show is doing real ghosts and now real zombies (which is a longer stretch) but I'll give it a slight Halloween protection reasoning. Hector, Bobby, and Carl  have to get the zombies away before they start eating people. (mostly their sweet brains)  Some of the characters decide to let Lisa and Carlos give Halloween facts , but are using them as bait for the zombies. (minus 1pt)

Rosa's horchata plot comes into play and apparently it can destroy zombies because of a special plant she used.  (Would watch a movie about zombies that melt after being having a Mexican beverage)  After the zombies are gone, Ernesto shows up.  Doesn't like how the place looks wrecked, but he loved Rosa's horchata and then he sees Boris and the Casas win some how. (sure I'll allow it)

I like how it isn't too bloated for the Casagrandes and Louds, these work better when it's not trying to have every Loud and Casagrande in it. Though, I do think the episode skews more Casagrande than Loud actually. It feels more Casagrande plot ish with Louds in it. (and Boris)  It gives a role to each character, mostly, I think Lana felt very oddly detached from the plot, where she's dropped in the second half.  Nice use of Lisa to latch on to the plot space where Carlos wanted someone to speak Halloween with.  Boris was airtightly used, glad they picked him from Lucy's group, and not the whole group, because that would have added too much bloat.  It has some funny moments and liked how Rosa's little part came into play for the solution.

There are some lines said by characters that sound like they wrote them for people who didn't watch the Casagrandes series. There's a weird bumpy weakness, but the first half was really trying to make sure it sets up the second half, but (big but) it also has some repetitiveness because it's like hey let's go get.... character and yeah... doesn't make the episode bad, but it should be noted.

I do think it was an alright Halloween special as well, good mixture of spooky and odd, and creative. I give it 7.5/10.

That's it for now tune in next time when we scare zombies off with the true meaning of Halloween.
