Episode 14a: Hot Tub Brine Machine
George, the father, is trying to make some pickles now. Which is also part of the town they live in's name: Pickleton. (bold name) Pony was hoping it was a hot tub, and he also hears the word time machine that comes in to play soon. Annie also thinks the story of the town founding is interesting and wants to a new flavor at the ice shop, but they don't open for 30 minutes. Pony doesn't want to wait. (for our lives to be over...) He sees that the pickle barrel and thinking it's a time machine thanks to George's words he thinks it's a time machine. (a common mistake)
It kind of reminds me of how a Rugrats episode would go, Pony heard a word thinks something is something else, uses it and thanks to outside circumstances, he thinks it happened. In this case, he thinks he's time traveled. He starts wondering the town and thinks everything is the future. He goes to find Annie whom he thinks is an old lady. Meanwhile, the plot is making sure Annie doesn't see his video, just yet. He sees an older lady who looks like Annie, but older.
It is kind of sweet he tries to help "Annie" live out some dreams she had. He then decides to try and get older "Annie" to the past because just stick with his plan here. Then he goes to a lab to get into a time machine. Annie finally sees Pony's video and she goes to find him. Pony is about to be zapped into time or just zapped, and Annie saves him.
I love the ending too. Great twist on that town founding story we saw earlier.
It's fun episode, it doesn't do a real time travel, it's more Pony thinking it and that's funny. All because he couldn't wait for ice cream. His message to "Annie" and Annie was sweet about making sure you live out your dreams. Annie saving him from being zapped in the real time machine also was a sweet thing. The ending was pretty funny too. 8/10.
Episode 14b: The Secret Life of Pony
I do like how they flip the tables this episode and has Annie kind of getting caught up in something. She first things that Pony just waits for her all the time, but then notices he's not there waiting for her, but then he's back when she exits school. She thinks he might have a secret life. So, this episode is really good twist on how the show normally goes, but with Annie instead of Pony.
She fakes going to school to watch him to see what he does. She sees Pony taking a briefcase up from random location. She even sees there was a spy style switch and now Annie thinks he's a spy. (Spy Pony, coming this fall) Gerry is helping Annie, while there's also a small subplot of Heston looking at Brian wondering what he is doing, if he has a secret life.
Pony then does clown stuff and Gerry sees that Pony is getting money. Gerry is tired of his hands being dirty, so he decides to call Pony and tell him that he knows that Pony doesn't just wait for Annie all day. Pony says he's going to the bathroom, like he said he did before to Annie. Eventually, Gerry thinks Pony really is a spy, after seeing Pony go inside an embassy for another country. (oh no! He's defecting to East Germany!)
I love the reveal to this episode as well. It's a nice little twist to the episode. I also like that Pony knew it was Saturday and he was surprised that she went to school for some reason. The Heston plot ends pretty funny as well.
Again, I like seeing a little role reversal where Annie is the one getting to the silly plot on her own while still keeping her character, and Pony still was Pony. It's fun to see how escalates to the reveal of what Pony was doing, as nice punchline. There's alot of fun, and you should see it to really get the fun experience. 8/10.
