The Casagrandes: Season 3: Episode 19: The Odd Father/ Long Shot

 The Casagrandes Nickelodeon

Episode 19a: The Odd Father

In this episode, Carlos needs to find a godfather for Carlitos' christening and he needs to find someone better than he did for Carl which was Sergio because for a genius he picked Sergio? What the..  Anyway, he seeks to find someone he thinks should be the godfather. The title card gives it away so, it's Vito.  The show restrained themselves from making a "The Godfather" reference, with Vito, all the way to now. (Congrats!)

Vito seems to make a good connection with Carlitos. So this turns into a  thing because Vito seems to have taken the role in a big way, and this makes Carlos feel annoyed with how Vito seems to be heavily involved.  He might be a little jealous too. ( I do have to take off some points for some gross things, it's my thing)    Carlos does say he could just tell him but talks with pigeon and decides to just make sure Vito can't get there. (That's not the oddest thing written on this blog) He does a few little things but that doesn't work because Vito is better than the mail he got there no matter what. (Go Vito!)

Then Carlos says he didn't want Vito to be there and then makes Vito leave. Carlos realizes, with some pushing from...the wife.. that he might  have gone too far and goes to find Vito.... make up ...the christening goes fine.

The episode was a nice one,  the sweet part is Vito really wanting to take his role seriously and get to know Carlitos well. Carlos wasn't good at handling this, so you can see a little bit of his side. It works. There's a nice genuineness to this episode and it's well done.  I give it 7.8/10

More after the Jump

Episode 19b: Long Shot

Today, I learned that Carlota Casagrande also goes to the same school as Carl and Ronnie Anne, so wow.  (Thanks to the show for telling me this in season 3 right before it dies)  Anyway the principal tells Carlota that she has to get P.E credits or she won't graduate.  The thing is Carlota doesn't have interest in sports  (not even alligator wrestling.).   Ronnie Anne decides to help her eldest cousin.

This makes a nice bond for these two that we've not seen much. This doesn't go well as Carlota doesn't seem to be good at sports.  Also Laird's running gag is both funny and strange.  The episode also remembers Mrs. Kernicky working as a gym teacher. I also loved the Becky versus Carlota fencing scene. Then Ronnie Anne finds out she's good at basketball without ever doing it before, that's how that works. ( I thought that's how that worked)

She gets to try for basketball for credit.  They have her play in a game to try out, because sure that's how that works.  It doesn't go well, until Ronnie Anne figures out that basketball uniform isn't working for her  so Carlota thinks up something, she makes a new outfit and new for the team because rules. Then she's able to do well.  This is an interesting resolution, and apparently she's back to being good at basketball.

It was a nice episode though.  The fun of seeing Carlota and Ronnie Anne working together. I do find it kind of random how Carlota is really good at basketball but I guess it's not too much.  When writing this post: if this episode is the final time we see Becky and Laird, it was a nice touch having them both bow out in the episode since they both were introduced in the same episode.  This was a great showing for Carlota, and think it was a fun episode.  I give this episode a 7.7/10

That's it for now, tune in next time when we call Vito for a favor.  (We need him to watch our plant, two boys killed our last one)
