The Casagrandes: Season 3: Episode 15: Sidekickin' Chicken/Silent Fight

 The Casagrandes Nickelodeon

Episode 15a: Sidekickin' Chicken

Run! The title has the word chicken in it , and this show can't be trusted with... oh ok it's fine. Back to Carl, it's been awhile, actually this time.  Carl is watching his favorite TV show , El Falcon, (there's an accent mark there that we didn't add there ) and I kind of miss TV channels just holding random contests everything is so boring now, I'm sad.  Anyway, the contest is about making a side kick to be added to the show (because the show is too lazy to make their own).  He makes up a costume and a character named El Pollito, and has Sergio help him record.  I like when they use director Sergio.

Whilst taping his video, he sees that Alexis has made a sidekick up of his own called "Tuba Boy" (oh no not Tuba Boy, I really fear a tuba , ooh) and Carl sees how much better Alexis' costume is compared to his and decides ask his mother to help. This episode is good at showing what we know about the characters and using it, like Sergio filming things and Frida being good at making clothes.  She makes a cooler costume for our dear Carl and back to filming.

Adelaide shows up she's in her own costume as Pandalaide (creative?) also she says a line that feels so forced that I don't how to finish that. Anyway, something something, she has cool gadgets  and he decides he needs to have cool gadgets.  Then he finds out that Alexis and Adelaide did theme songs and well you know where this is going...(I do?)

VHS tape.  Anyway, Carl commits mail crimes and finds out that he hasn't been picked. Because they didn't find El Pollito to be a very convincing sidekick.  Adelaide and Alexis have made it to the final round because... of course they did.  (Is this show only available in one town or...?)

Carl gets an idea to do more heroic acts to convince the judges to change their minds.  This goes uh... anyway, his final idea is to save a baby , in this case the baby is Sergio. (I have no problem with that) This plan doesn't go well when Carl gets stuck in  a tree and thankfully Adelaide and Alexis had to save Sergio  (Saying something mean about Sergio here, but not out right saying it ).   They found out that Carl faked it because he had to do it.

Anyway, Carl gives them the VHS tape to show their heroic work to submit. Also the show has picked up the idea of Panalaide and Tuba Boy. (They got paid right? Like the show paid them right? Just... I'm going home) In a fun twist, Carl's character is in the show too, as a sidekick for evil.  Also this show really just went with 3 kids' characters from this one city who happen to know each other? what?

This is a good episode it shows some strength for Carl, he doesn't outright try to derail anyone else's plans, but just wants to show his character is good enough for the show. It's also a fun use of the Carl and Sergio duo without it going annoying. This is a fun episode to see and does pretty good to show the fun. I give it 7.3/10.

Episode 15b: Silent Fight

Here's a fun episode, where  Carlitos has been sleeping very well because he's not feeling well, you can see the parents are stressed as well. Meanwhile in the background, Carl and CJ are playing and it turns into a fight.  This episode does a good job in it's build up to it's full plot potential.

Carlitos is sleep finally, and Frida warns Carl and CJ if they wake up the baby they will be grounded two months. The moral is don't tick off a mom who hasn't had sleep. This is where the episode turns into fun, it's like a Tom and Jerry short where, but still some talking, going on where these two have a fight as quietly as possible. The background music also does a great job of making the episode fun.  (also slightly gross minus 0.2pts)

There's a big risk for them to not wake up the baby or the parents or else WRATH. So when the El Falcon toy starts making noise there's tense worry of what will happen next. Lalo has seen the plot and makes the risk go up by playing around with the toy. (Apparently, he doesn't mind if the baby wakes up cries)

Baby wakes up, but the parents are still sleep. So Carl and CJ now have a new goal of trying to make sure Carlitos doesn't cry. The episode mostly does things quiet so it's still following the fun of the episode through out.  Now these two try to get him to go back to sleep, by doing some fun stuff to make sure he goes to sleep. It works.

Thanks to Carl starting up something again, and causing a struggle, they wake up the baby.  Frida yells at the boys and says they are grounded, following through with her promise. Also don't mess with lady who hasn't had enough sleep.  Anyway, the ending is nice too, where Carl decides to fix up some stuff and let's CJ play with El Falcon.  The boys end up playing quietly  and all works well.  Carlos gets grounded some how.

This is really fun episode, it has a lot of great moving parts, love how it takes place only in the Casagrande apartment with just the parents and boys. The silent parts are fun and the episodes stakes works out well. A super fun episode, there's a great vibe through out and give it that due, It's 8.4/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time, quietly.
