The Loud House : Season 6: Episode 11: Bummer Camp/ Sleepstakes

 Nickelodeon  The Loud House

Episode 11a: Bummer Camp

Leonard, Lynn's Sr's father, shows up in this episode, which gives him a role. (He showed up in  'Present Danger' but wasn't the main role focus or whatever) I'm going a little off normal mode talking about this episode. The idea is that 'Gramps' and the camp that first showed up in the special "Camped" that also introduced Leonard/ Gramps is back as he's having a hard time setting up the place because is crew quits. Lincoln gets his siblings and himself not close down the camp, so he won't have to leave back to fishing life.  (Their investment in having the man not leave is higher than mine, since apparently the know him more than we've seen him.)

We do learn why the camp crew left because Gramps likes to run the camp like his fishing boat as shown with the Loud kids who are not every happy with this. I do like how they do their 'dibs not' thing and it ends with Lilly having to tell him how they feel.   He agrees to try , but you can tell that's not going to go well because well it doesn't.

Gramps decides he might have to close down the camp. The kids don't want him to go, so  the next plan is apparently, they decide to bunk on his boat and go with him fishing stuff.  (Wait, they don't like doing the fisherman stuff at the camp and don't want him to leave the camp because he'll go back to fishing and they might not see him as much, but they decide to go with him and do fishing stuff to hang out with him because that's what they wanted? There's too much going on at once)

Because of their willingness to  try to do the fishing stuff, makes Gramps decide to instead give the camping thing another chance. (Because we they need to wrap this thing up)

Another (wow) family episode where the Louds work to do something, in this case helping out Gramps. If they are going to have Gramps around for the series it was good to have some development for him so we, the audience can get to know him. It was nice to see the camp again, as well. The episode is mostly comfort and it's fine, I give it 7/10.

  Episode 11b: Sleepstakes

I find it interesting for a show that has developed their characters with friend groups or has given characters friends they've not really done much Lana in terms of friending.  She has been shown with others in a few other episodes, but not really much was given. (They also could have used like Skippy as a friend, but cowards!)  This episode does give her some named friends and also the plot is interesting.

I'm not sure if it is out of character for Lana to have a fear of sleeping at not home or if it makes sense.  (Also random mail tube just to start our plot is odd and maybe forced minus 0.1pts for making me think it might be forced)  Lana gets an invitation to her friend Kyra's sleepover , who's Kyra? You know Kyra, Lana's friend, yeah her that one with the hair and eyes and stuff. Alright they made up a kid for this episode, then you can hear this weird forced line when she mentions two other girls named Ashley and Kristen. (Coach's challenge; I think it kind of works the way Lana says it , sounds kind of like how a 7-year-old might explain her friends) Fine, there are parts that still kind of feel forced as dialogue, like Lynn Sr. saying the she and Kyra always have fun together, like we've seen her before. (There's some leeway there too I mean...)  But, I'd still knock a 0.1pt off for the whole Lana likes being sticky joke. (agree)  Adding in the line "As you all know..." before saying "...I'm not good a sleepovers" seems like a slip too. (This is the nitpick proportion of the post, but this doesn't change any view on the episode, this is just random thoughts being added in)

This episode is another siblings all come together to do something in this case to help another one. (Mom, The Loud House is doing it again!)  There's scene that reminds me of the "Rugrats" episode with the TV box , called "Kid TV" and I think this was pretty fun to see, it has a charm. (0.1 pts added)  Again, it's the standard sibling help their sibling out, I do like how like that last episode there's a moment of not it happening. Lana does end up going to the sleep over but starts to feel scared and the siblings help her in that as well. There's also some more humorous moments, especially Lincoln.

Eventually though, you already know, but she gets over her fears when she finds out that sleepovers don't usually have sleeping going on and decides to stay.

There are some episodes of this show where they force a character into a plot, and you can tell. Here I can see maybe that the plot was thought up first, but picking Lana for the role works,  it fits her character, where she does do some typical age things whilst still also being exceptional in other things, it works for balance. It wouldn't  work with Lola because a social occasion like a sleepover is her thing and she would dominate that party.  I don't Lisa would have that kind of problem, so it fits and works.  I think it's good episode of Lana and it's nice to see her have some human friends (Still wish they had brought back Skippy, cowards!) and doing a plot that doesn't have to do with animals, since they use that pool a lot.  The episode flows well and has nice balance of humor, though does drag some of it's running gags a bit.

           I give it 7.5/10

That's it for now, tune in next time when, I offer to buy the summer camp and turn it into a mini-mall,  (What?)
