The Loud House Season 6: Episode 4: A Bug's Strife/ All the Rage

 Nickelodeon The Loud House

Episode 4a: A Bug's Strife

At first watch I was little harsh on this episode, but since I watch it more for these posts, that's right, I guess my harshness has toned down a bit.  Lynn Sr. decides to fake sick so he won't have to visit Aunt Ruth, who returns to the show (at least in reference for the first time in seasons)  and since it's been noted before that Lynn Sr. doesn't really like visiting her (the family in general doesn't) he's gotten out of going.

Now he says he just wants a nice peaceful day, that means you aren't getting a nice peaceful episode. The pets are in the episode and judge him (it makes sense for the cat to do so) and it seems he can't get a peaceful time with them being pets. He puts the cat and dog outside (yes their names are Cliff and Charles, but he didn't have time to write it like that) and then he has to put the hamster and bird (would have saved more time if you just wrote Geo and Walt) and sends them outside.

He thinks he has peace,  I laugh at him. So the plot sets in where there's a cricket in the house. Now apparently, he could just ignore the cricket, it becomes his white whale and chunk of the rest of the episode is him versus this cricket. That's it. I could  explain everything that happens, but I won't.  You will at least know things escalate and get weird.

This is not much like a "The Loud House" episode ,in my view. It feels more like a Looney Tunes short, but longer, or a Tom and Jerry Short, and a dash of Spongebob.  After getting the cricket out of the house, he's now locked out and the episode turns into him trying to get into the house. That's right. This episode is full of more physical comedy than much of this show, but I'm not saying the show hasn't done this , this episode uses it more.

We see the attempts of the man trying to get into the house, I will give a prop for not doing the classic police come by and try to arrest him for trying to break into his own house, thank you.  He does get into the house after destroying things, but the cricket comes back and drives him mad. The wife and kids come home (ok then) see the house messed up and man being insane.

They decide to go to Aunt Ruth's house until it's repaired (twist of fate) and so the thing he wanted to avoid and has to go anyway. Episode ends with the man screaming terror.

I think this episode was kind of strange for a Loud House episode, but not bad. I think it's interesting they went with a path of having a solo character essentially, makes it more intimate experience. It does feel like Aunt Ruth might be an agent of chaos, since apparently bad things happen when you decide you don't want to stay with her. The writing likes to have something where the characters that don't want to be around her end up with her anyway.  If that's the moral it's a weird moral.   I think the episode was alright, kind of enjoyable, a little weird. I give it 7/10.

   More after the jump

Episode 4b: All the Rage

Grr.  This episode is about dodgeball week (which airs every year on AMC , don't check that, it's a joke)  The Lincoln friends without Clyde are dying out there in the dodgeball match. Then Clyde shows up and he's talking about his TV show and how he was mad a guy he liked got disqualified.   The rage of talking about it made Clyde angry and we get a fun sequence and he ends up winning the dodgeball match.  (wow)

This gives Lincoln and idea, an awful idea, I was going to a more Grinch joke, but gave up. (Grrrrrr) The idea is to have Clyde get enraged, and they use ways to get Clyde mad to win in dodgeball. Clyde causes a death wipeout and each day the friends make different things happen to cause Clyde rage.   It's finally Friday and Lincoln says he's happy dodgeball week is over (coming up next on CBS : It's Death Week!)  that means it's not going to be over. We also have six minutes left so....

We also find out Clyde gets mad about litter (of puppies? shameful)  and comes into the episode, because it will.   Bolhofner is back and he tells Lincoln he's been impressed by team and since he's still subbing, it's more dodgeball week.  Told ya! (yeah yeah yeah)

We also get a chad Liam screaming moment (plus 0.2pts for that). The friends continue the plan to make Clyde rage out again, because this is the weird time line. There's  a weird anger about a cat being dressed up as Santa on Halloween.  This makes Clyde angry, but is saved by Merryl making him think differently.  (He breaks his new i-phone)  Lincoln decides to commit litter crimes (exterminate him) and this makes Clyde mad and wanting to yell at the principal about the litter problem, he doesn't know Lincoln group (trademark LLC) did this, that's not according to plan. Lincoln and the others run to Clyde and tell them what happened and what they've been doing. They apologize and Clyde is disappointed at them. (yes)

Lincoln and the others decide to go out and take what's coming to them, but thankfully one of teh over sized eighth graders decided to litter and this sets Clyde , who was in the stands, off. and he goes in to rage mode to stop the other team. He knocks down a wall. (cool)   Then the friends agree to clean up the school and they get to play a viking team next.

This segment had it's own thing going, though it might be tiring to have an episode of friend manipulation again. The episode was funny and had it's moments, I like the random stuff setting Clyde off like his TV show and litter, but the Cliff in Santa costume almost doing it was also funny.  It was interesting to see Clyde show anger , it's not something you see from him much.  Don't expect an episode about the understanding of rage, just expect a weird light episode.   I give it 7/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time when we get ANGRY MAD INSENCED  about something stupid. (So Twitter?)
