The Loud House: Season 6: Episode 5: Musical Chairs/ The Taunting Hour

 The Loud House  Nickelodeon

Episode 5a: Musical Chairs

Mr. Bolhofner is back and he's teaching his class about how to get out of whale if eaten by a whale, which is an important lesson.  Chandler doesn't want Lincoln to learn this valuable skill so he starts bothering Lincoln which gets Lincoln in trouble. That day Lincoln swore his revenge, but actually, he just wants to switch seats in class.

He goes to ask the teacher and the teacher says because he thinks hardship builds character. (he's right?)  Anyway, I like that Liam takes buttering someone up literally.  The friends suggest buttering up the  teacher (mmm buttered teacher).  So we get  Lincoln going around and trying to do nice things for Mr.b, this ends up a mess, and he also ends up having to save Lincoln from a bear , for the 2nd time. (odd that's happened twice)

Eventually, Lincoln finds out that the teacher plays the bass drum, and this gives him the idea to have the man join his father's group, the Do-Dads.  They like that he has the right beat and everything, and Lincoln does up getting that new seat.  What could go wrong?

Well, during a practice, Mr. B goes insane because he wants things to go a different way. (jamming is for hippies)  He makes them dress up like vikings for some reason. The band wants him to go, Lincoln tells his dad that he wanted the teacher in the band because of the seat and the band says they'll keep him. That shows the power of parental love.

Anyway, during a gig at the restaurant, Lincoln decides to shut it down, and tells Mr.B he's fired from the band.  (can he do that?)  This is a great Lincoln moment, I like that he showed courage. The next day in class, the teacher realized he did something wrong and that Lincoln gets to have a different seat after all. This is also a great moment.  Then Lincoln kills Chandler.

This episode is balanced, Lincoln wants a  new seat and works to get that, but without doing anything that would be a bad trick. It's also there to show more about the teacher and that he needs to work better around people, and maybe he's used to being alone that things don't mesh well for him  when he's around people. Lynn Sr. and the other dads also willing to have Mr.B stay in their group so Lincoln can have a better seat is interesting, and shows the selflessness and parental sacrifice and allows Lincoln to have a good moment later when he decides to stand up and tell his teacher he's fired.  This is a good episode 7.7/10

More after the jump

Episode 5b: The Taunting Hour

This episode is tight; from the start you'll see Chandler cheering at Lynn's soccer game for himself I guess, you'd think that was just unnecessary but it will tie back in to episode. Anyway Scoots decides to make fun of Lynn playing soccer and starts getting to her head causing Lynn to lose focus and the game.  That's a really good showing of how a negative thought can cause that kind of mess.

I also like how Lincoln goes to help Lynn when she's feeling awful, it's a good showing of their relationship and his nature. So anyway, Lincoln decides to help her that everyone in the family has the same problem of critics, but that everyone means everyone but Lana, Leni, Lucy , and Lilly which would be odd to be taunting  a toddler.

I like Lincoln's idea of showing her that it's not just him. Then it turns to where Lynn tells the family that she was helped by him and tells everyone (minus the sisters I  mentioned before).  Lincoln unintentionally tells the other members the faults they were said to have and this causes them to think about them and you see how they get affected by this.

So Lisa, Lola, the parents, Luan, Luna, and Lynn get mad at Lincoln. He tells them why are any of them paying attention to their critics, and he decides to get a video show them that he has a critic too, Chandler  comes back into play,  and that he doesn't care what he says. Lincoln has a good message and helps his family members get over their critics.

This is a good episode, that again does a simple message, that at least could apply to the idea of people getting critical messages for what they do, I think it was a good idea to do. I was worried this episode was going to 4th wall break or something and glad it wasn't that kind of episode.  The episode fits  well as a puzzle where even Chandler showing up at the start fits into the episode. This is a fine episode with craft. I give it 8/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time, when we decide to write mean comments to most of the Louds for revenge for their van almost squishing me.
