The Casagrandes Nickelodeon
Episode 9a: Skatey Cat
I like this episode, that's right doing this differently. So when this episode's synopsis was released it said Ronnie Anne is nervous to get back on her board after a bad wipeout. I took this as she gets injured but, I'm glad it wasn't that. Ronnie Anne does wipe out , but she's alright, what happens is psychological. She fears that she's gonna do the same thing again and now in that fear, she can't get back on her board.
This episode is done well, and the skateboarding could be replaced with anything and anyone could maybe see themselves in the situation. She gets a video call from Lincoln (contract obligations, said the person who adds these side bars sometimes) and well Sergio tells him what happened. Lincoln's role works for the episode as someone there to help her out and express her feelings, something she's a little nervous to do with her friends. (uhh) So his main idea is that she just has to keep trying, that's the best way to get over her fear. (his words)
Eventually, of all people, Vito tires to help her, she also tries a VR skateboarding game, and anything she tries is pretty normal of choice, or feels natural enough, and the episode instead decides to sprinkle humor in, without the ideas of her getting over her fears being the gags. Well done.
She doesn't want her friends to know her fear, and they've been noticing her fear. Instead she makes up something about skateboarding being over and they are alright to try new things. The episode sprinkles in Lincoln when needed , not to take away from the story, and she gets an idea to try a new sport that might be safer in theory, except the wind.
This sets into motion her friends were in danger and she gets her skateboard without second thought, using the classic bigger fear kills an other fear thing. She saves her friends, because we aren't having dead characters in this show. (phew)
This was a good episode in the way it presented it's fear and Ronnie Anne's feelings without being too dark or sad, and still having humor spliced in very well. This was a good episode, I'm glad for it. There's alot of solidness to this episode, I give it 8/10.
More after the jump
This is one of those "This show gets weird" episodes. It starts with Carlos , his sons, and Ronnie Anne at the museum where Carlos is setting up an exhibit on Aztec stuff. Also Charles is back. There's a god named Tlaloc who can make it rain. (the water kind) also there are some fake statues and you can see where this goes. The real ones ends up with the Casa kids and a fake one is placed in the exhibit thanks to Carlitos and a bump.
It is kind of fun that when they get home, Carl figures out pretty quickly that it's the real statute, he was paying attention and I don't have to keep yelling at them the statue is the real one. Ronnie Anne wishes it was real, and then they wouldn't have to clean roof, then the eyes glow blue, do notice that, and it rains.
Ronnie Anne learned that day to not doubt a god. They also make it snow, because the rain god is also a snow god? Carl decides to have more fun, this is not a good idea, and now makes it hot, then weindy. I like the background gag of Carlota and Lalo trying to fit into weather situation,
Later Carl enovokes the god's wrath, as he would, he throws the statue into a pile of dirty laundry and the eyes glow red now, meaning Carl has evoked wrath. The god is made it snow inside the apartments, which isn't a bad thing. The four of them run back to the museum and place Tlalock back in his spot.
Charles tells them have to make him offerings, and since they can't offer Carl, they have to give up stuff they value. It's kind of fun to see Carl say goodbye to El Falcon, he had to offer something of worth. The god seems pleased and things are fine again.
I have to accept the weirdness of the episode's plot , it's fun just like what? I mean messing with a god was a bad idea, it kind of fun. I liked the idea. Of course, Carl would be part of this, but it was funny to see Ronnie Anne join in. The episode had funny moments, Carlota's scenes were funny, Sergio getting destroyed by wind was funny. This episode was a treat to watch and I enjoyed it, I give it 8/10.
That's it for now, tune in next time, when we have to make an offering to stop ...hmm joke redacted
