The Casagrandes Nickelodeon
Now it's season 3 of "The Casagrandes" and that means something. I don't know, I had no real big intro planned for this post. (Plus the time I'm doing this, Season 2 isn't over yet) Anyway it's time for our look at Season 3 of this series, let's get started!
Episode 1a: Bend it Like Abuelo
Contextually, this is an episode about the grandfather, Hector, being a good luck charm for a soccer team called "The Gatos" which are apparently, according to Vito, are a bad team, but also part of a cross-state championship. (That's confusing) There's a player nicknamed Picosito and after meeting Hector and touching the man's bald head, seems to win the next game after being not a winner. Thus, setting to motion that Hector thinks that if the player rubs his head they will win.
The rest of the episode becomes man wants the guy to rub his head for good luck, the episode. (Odd) So he sneaks into the soccer stadium and lunges at Picosito to get him to rub his head. At first, he's apprehensive because it's odd for someone to ask you to rub their had. (Don't try this yourself, you might not like the results) After being tricked into rubbing Hector's head, Picosito does well and ends up letting Hector. Now everyone rubs his head, but then the Gatos lose.
Hector goes to Rosa to see if she can make magic happen and bring back his good luck. There's even voodo dolls. (What?) None of that seems to work. Apparently, the actual luck was the luck inside the player all along... no, that'd be a normal thing, actually, it was Hector's boxers. (what?) He ends up being a rated G streaker and running after the soccer to make him rub his head. (That's a sentence)
Anyway the episode ends with a hot undies gag, I'm going to lie down now.
That was an episode. It's strange in the weird way, not in the fun weird way. I think the plot feels like it could have been a shorter concept but stretched out longer. That or I found it strange to have an episode where the idea is to get someone to rub a guy's head. It wasn't a bad episode, but I don't think there's anything that I can re-watch and enjoy it. Anyway I give it 6/10.
More after the jump
Episode 1b: Bunstoppanle
This is a Chang family episode, minus Becca, and there's not a Casagrande family member in this episode, so it's a first. Anyway, Stanley, the father, tells his daughters and also the pet monkeys, snake, and Breakfast Bot about his ancestors living in a village that was being attacked by bandits that were hungry. Anyway his ancestor decides the best way to stop the bandits is to give them goldfish bao. The bandits gave up their evil ways and became protectors. (Oh that's how we could have stopped World War 2)
Anyway that's the story of a family recipe and now he wants his daughters to make it. Yep, he wants them to make it themselves, and they have to be made the right way. Fun fact, the dad wants them to make 800 more, while he goes to the park to get a spot for Chinese Cultural festival. They get the idea to let the monkeys, snake, robot help them make the bao in an assembly line. (we have technology)
The true moral of the episode is they should make the food with love and not over processed (I think) Anyway, a malfunction happens, a worm hole opens and releases the bandits from history in to our time. So, that's right time travel has happened and uh show are, are you alright there? I mean ok then.
The hungry bandits decide to create chaos in the city. Sid tries to give them the bao they made and it didn't work because it wasn't made with love and it had monkey hair. (that's what happens when you have monkeys making your food) Sid decides to try different foods in the city and see if they'll like it. They have three chances. (Enough for the short length we have here) That doesn't work, back to destruction.
Adelaide keeps them at bay with karate while Sid goes home and makes Bao the correct way. She makes it just in time for them to stop Adelaide. This time the bao works and the bandits agree to go back into worm hole. ( I just hope they went back to their right time zone)
This was a fun episode, the message was clear: don't cut corners and put care into things you work on. The episode is entertaining even with the concept of time travelers, it doesn't convolute the plot. It's fun to see the Chang sisters have an episode together and without Ronnie Anne being added in. Giving us a story about Sid and Adelaide without the Casagrandes showing up gives us a little more depth to them. This was a good episode 7.5/10.
That's it for now, tune in next time when we have to fix the history again because somehow the first president is now a goat.
