 Episode 8a:  I, Breakfast Bot

So a reference to the classic book, "I, Robot"?  Or the concept from stories in that novel ,like the idea that the fear of robots rising up against humans is misplaced ("Robbie")  Or the idea that brought the concept of the three laws of robotics, like "Robots can't hurt humans unless they are causing harm".  Or using the concept from "Reason" where a robot decides it can think and threre for it can do what it wants superseding humans. But I'd be here for long not getting into this episode.

The main idea is the Ronnie Anne, Carl, CJ, and Sergio are tasked with doing chores when Rosa has to leave to her job as the apartment manager. (They remembered that in the series, good for them.)  They feel the chores are messing up their show fun. Sid was fixing the breakfast bot up , that robot that Sid made in "Two of Clubs" and has shown up a couple times since, and she fixes it up to help Ronnie Anne's chore of watching the food cook.

But we need drama! So Carl, Serigo and C.J also want some robot doing stuff for them action and  Sid obliges them and sets the bot to do choress for them around the house, while the Casagrande-Santiago kids relax.  The robot uses up too much power and ends up powering down. So, Sid wants to let it rest, but Ronnie and Family want more robot abuse to happen. (I ain't changing that line) Sid takes their puppy eyes and decides to give the robot more power (grunts)

The robot feels (yes) that the humans are having fun while he's having  to do all the works and decides to start a revolution as intended. I think at this point, you would feel for the robot.  The robot gets the electronics in the house to rise up against the humans (and bird and dog) and causes great dramatic tension for the episode.  Sid decides to use herself to get the others to safety. (That was nice of her ) and the others go to their spot to figure out how to stop this.

The breakfast bot ties up Sid and also says his name is  Dennis and also has decided they aren't friends.  The robot is water proof some how can be stopped by menudo. Unless it's the heat  of the boiling liquid it makes no sense how that liquid is different to that other liquid. Anyway they do that scary arm rising ending and the end.

I'm sure we'll see the bot being happy again in a future episode. It was an alright episode, there's  a fun dynamic to the episode to fit the moral of the episode with a some good robot revolt tension.   It was an entertaining episode through out, and did good job with it's story. 8/10

   More after the Jump

Episode  8b: Dynamic Do-Over

Carl really likes this super hero on TV called El Falcon  and Bobby decides to surprise him with a treat to meet the real one, or some guy who plays him. (Pay attention)  This goes badly, when Carl fan guys him and makes the man who already seemed stressed to snap and tell him this isn't real. This hurts Carl's feelings and make Bobby mad the dude as well.  Carl decides that he should give up liking El Falcon, and this makes his family worry. Bobby decides the best thing to do is pretend to be El Falcon and restore Carl's faith.

This is again, showing Bobby's strength a a character and that he is someone that would go beyond for his family.  He gets the rest of the family to help out and commit to making up scenarios to impress Carl. It's a sweet moment that  has the family working together to help a young boy feel better and have a belief in his heroes. It shows genuine strength of the show, using their family to help out.

This time a real robber shows up at the family store, because crime now exists, and because Bobby doesn't want to break the illusion, he changes after the guy who also took the van and ends up following the guy.  Bobby does stop the guy, but his mask fell of and Carl figured it out, but Bobby explains that he cared. Then the guy from the start shows up and saves them from a falling sign and  impresses Carl in a rather sweet moment and it works out well.

This is a top notch episode, where everything flows well, and shows a great thing in Bobby's already great character. I'm glad the episode didn't  linger on Carl feeling bad and more focused on Bobby's efforts to make him feel better. It works well that way and glad it came out that way. I give 8.5/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time when we tell the toaster to shut up!
