The Loud House: Season 2: Episode 25: The Crying Dame/ Anti-Social

The Loud House  Nickelodeon

Previously, on the Loud House, the Louds celebrate Halloween.  You can read that here.

       Episode 25a: The Crying Dame

The one thing episodes that have something this to annoy the characters is you don't want that annoyance to translate to also annoying the viewers, it's a fine line, but if done well, then everyone wins.  The unnecessary note: I'm sad this wasn't a film noir style of episode with a mystery instead, that title would have been perfect for such a thing,oh well.

It starts with Lilly crying loudly, because that's a great way to start an episode, real inviting that way. The siblings are trying to figure out why she's been crying and Rita says that babies cry  without anyone knowing why.  Lori says she has an old toy from when she was a baby called Fenton the feel better fox.  She gets him and gives him to Lily.   The fox sings a song, and this episode will play this song a lot. The idea is to eventually cause the Louds to get annoyed. The parents call it a demon toy because it annoyed them a long time ago.  The children are wrong for mocking their parents, for they were right.

Lilly will constantly play the toy and it's annoying. (I'm glad the show had to fill time by constantly play the song for us to get annoyed too)  This makes them want to get rid of Fenton. (by killing him?)  The song keeps on playing because of course it does. They work together and get the doll away from Lilly and throw in a far away dumpster.  They also go through the work of trying to make sure Lilly not cry, by doing the show's favorite thing: a montage.  This might have seemed to have worked.   Now there is still 5 minutes left, dear viewer, so now what?

Now they notice that Lilly is really sad because the annoying fox is gone.  You do get the genuine care the siblings have for Lilly  as they figure out she misses Fenton. The siblings decide to go and HAVE TO GET THE FOX back.  It's nice to see the effort they put in to find the toy but, the toy is destroyed at the dump.  Luna can remember the song because it's catchy,  actually everyone can and Lincoln gets  an idea.  He dresses like Fenton and has  Luna sing and play the song.  Lilly is happy and the ending is sweet with everyone singing for Lilly. The parents running away was funny too.

The episode is a good one, with sweet moments of the siblings caring about their sister at the start and the end.  The parents were funny background, though it does show them being mostly out of the plot , so that depends on if you like that or not.  The song is catchy and annoying, the show does try not annoy the viewers, but again that depends on your view as well.  I give it 7.5/10.

More after the Jump

       Episode 25b:  Anti-Social

This is about technology because 21st century. (The boring of centuries, probably)  Lynn Sr. comes home and sees all his kids (and wife) are all on some sort of device to internet on. He's sad that they aren't focused on doing other things and is thinking about cutting the internet. Lori gets the idea to show their father the idea that these devices are good.  (I'm taking away points for the term hashtag , likes and etc, here so minus 0.5 pts  and any future use of words like Selfie and etc., already)  They put together a way to convince the man that tech is good thing.  Yep, this episode is going to be filled with tech stuff so, that's the ride we are on.

It is nice to see the kids try to show their father the good side of technology. (In theory)  Because this is an episode of  "The Loud House"something has to go down hill and quick (we spent half the episode just  with the build up)  and well the father gets over zealous on his tech.  Like not helping Lincoln with his homework because he's busy posting stuff.  (Minus 0.3 pts for making me see that picture of Lincoln)  He continues by  posting embarrassing pictures , taking pictures of food (and wasting it) and  ends up a reverse of how the episode started, but the father being too invested instead.  (MORALITY TALE)

The kids are annoyed because lesson learning reasons.  The kids turn off the internet ( they called the phone company to cut off the mobile phone or....?)  Then everyone tries to do stuff without the internet in montage form ( you know, because Loud House)  It is  nice to see the kids and father do stuff together and is the best part of the episode.

The thing I like about the episode is they do the classic Simpsons style of story telling for an issue, where they didn't take  a side. Meaning they didn't take a side on the tech issue. There's no tech is bad message or that it's completely good.  That would have hurt the episode , by saying either side was right.  Tech being alright but shouldn't be a center focus and try to over take over lives is a good message. It's a nice balance that's one thing the episode did well.  The kids learning their lesson and understanding on their own was a nice touch and it set the show well. It's a good episode with some slight annoyance but not bad.  I give it 8.2/10.

             That's it for now.

[ THE FINAL COUNTDOWN]

That's not the final episode set for the season, but these are the final for the blog order, due to my doing it out of order.  It's time for the conclusion.

Season 2 had a less focus on Lincoln directly, compared to season 1. The strange thing for a show marketed as 1 boy living with 10 girls to have the focus be on him, then decide to cut back on that as the show felt more reassured on background characters. More of the episodes this season focused on the family as a whole.  There were more episodes of the siblings working together on things to get what they want as a common goal, more than the sisters vs. Lincoln type situation. I would say a majority of the season 2 episodes were more family focused than just Lincoln.   Another aspect to the season was slightly more focus on certain sisters.   Lola was given places to show her as a character more than random bratty pageant girl,  There was an episode with her relationship with her twin was in focus.

There were more episodes with Lincoln being away from his sisters and more with Clyde, they were again more  prevalent this season than the past one.  They also went more outside the Loud House, the house, in these episodes. They were going beyond Lincoln in the show and focusing slightly more on the other Louds  to give them more personality,  which is fine, even if it went against the whole marketing of the show  but , you know.

Lucy, Lori, Leni, Lola, Lana, Lisa, and Lilly seemed to get more focus in this season giving them something as progress.  Also the father was actually given a little more than even the mother character, which is interesting.   Season 3 would continue more of this, in more hyper drive, more on that in season 3.

Background setup for making a spin-off of a character that we'd not seen much of, they kind of went from hey here's an episode with her and Lincoln and Lincoln trying to understand her better, and giving us a family background to a few episodes later, shipping them off to a city to her extended family to have more characters to probably make a spin off.  The spin off motion must have been in consideration since this show was seen to be striking it hot, and Nickelodeon wanted more quick. (That's also why they announced a movie in 2017)  Hindsight makes it easier to guess, but still.

The show has a formula  to it, I know I mentioned montage in almost every post , because the show uses those alot   Their plots working to the moral works out sometimes,  where if it feels too forced it hurts the episode a lot more, than if it's glided in there.   The way of keeping up is it's humor in a more consistent set up.
