Episode 4a : Suite and Sour
Lynn and Rita are going on a spa weekend alone (guess they want a 12th child) , but the kids want to go to because they'll have to spend their weekend at Aunt Ruth's. (Putting this out there here: but Lori is 17, she could watch her family for the weekend, but I guess we need driving force for the plot, I guess) They put together a plan to convince them to take them. They make a play showing how life would be with Aunt Ruth.
You know where this is going, I know where this is going so, let's skip ahead. They are now at the fancy hotel and the kids have to stay out of trouble. The fun parts of this episode involve what the different characters do while at this hotel. Leni's plot is funny because she ends up thinking she's a hotel manager, and pretty good one too, like dang. Lincoln and Lucy working together to find a ghost. Lola has a spa day with her her toys. (what?) Lisa makes the pool acidic or something. Lori and Lilly get trapped on the roof. Lynn and Lana get stuck in an elevator.
The kids get in trouble. (Weird Luan did because she was just being slightly annoying to the repair man but nothing of harm, and Lori only broke something because she was trying to get out.) The kids feel bad and decide to be good. Things go weird even in the room and Lori gets locked on the balcony again.
This episode is great humored. Everything is so much unintentional chaos that it is really funny how it goes. Anyway they get kicked out of the hotel. The kids feel bad and they decide to make their own spy day for the parents at home. It's a sweet ending, with the kids working together to let their parents have a weekend to themselves (and the results will be strange in 9months) even going to the dreaded Aunt Ruth's house. The ending puts a nice twist on how the family got kicked out; I won't say what it was but it's a fun ending.
I think this episode is pure fun, it has a lot of great humorous moments and it is nice to see the kids working together and the the parents together being fun and romantic. I give this one 9/10.

Episode 5b : Back in the Black
Here you can see the show is backing away a little from it being focused on Lincoln. As I've talked about in the past couple episodes he was in the cast but not the main focus character. This episode takes it differently to where Lucy is the focus, but Lincoln is still there as plot device.
Lincoln is working on his school project and Lucy scares him, as is the mode for this show and his friend Rusty shows up. This is the first episode of the series showing Rusty as a friend to Lincoln. He also brings his brother, Rocky. (Who as of this writing unless season 4 surprises everyone, we'll see again, because this show loves doing that) I think they did the whole space project thing just to do a Uranus joke.
Lucy sees Rocky and is smitten. I like the effect of using skulls and not hearts. Now she spends the episode stalking him because she thinks he's cute. When she does try to talk to him and he seems to run away. She decides to act "normal" so Rocky would talk to her. The other sisters find out she's trying to be "normal" and they help her be "normal".
I'm a little bothered slightly that the sisters seem to eager to change her. (Also why would Lynn and Lisa care? ) Maybe not with Lola because Lola but yeah that's minor bother, but they do let Lucy be Lucy and only are doing it because she's asking. I'd felt strange not putting this line in.
They also suggests some tips to make sure her date goes well. Oh yeah, Lincoln exists and he actually seems concerned about the idea of changing Lucy. They also use him as a plot device by breaking is school project to get Rusty to come back to get Rocky to come over. (Uh yeah, that's a great plan!) I'm taking off .5pts for the use of Yolo (if you don't know what that means then we've progressed as a society) still takings the point off. Lucy and Rocky go with Lori and Bobby on a date. Poor Rusty asks all the sisters if they want to go on a date and they just walk away from him. (poor guy) I laughed because I love how forthright he was, so that gets .5pts added.
This date goes un-well because Lucy can't play "normal" well. Oh my little problem from gets addressed when the sisters apologize for being so eager to change her. (Good move episode, good move) So, it's sweet. Lincoln overhears Lucy lamenting her sadness. Rocky has fake flood on him, using Lucy's formula. Rocky talks to Lucy and she finds out that he was just nervous around her it's sweet moment and they seem to be friends. The Solar system doesn't live very well.
This is fine episode, It flows well, has a charm to it. Lucy is great character and it is nice to her have a story. I can understand why Lori, Lola, even Leni help her act "normal" but the heck would Lana care? Or why Luna think the way they made Lucy, normal, be on that train. She eschews that as a character same with Luan. Why the heck would Lisa care? So, that was weird. Also, they thought Lincoln couldn't help because he's a boy and would know nothing about boys? He also is the one that fixed stuff so, ha! The solar system plot line was plot device to get this episode to work. It broke alot, though I could have done with Lynn breaking it on purpose, there are other ways to get people to come to your house, people!
It has minor issues, but it doesn't destroy anything, we do need to have more Rocky, why haven't they? I don't know maybe they killed him off like Christina and the one guy, I can't remember.
I give this episode 9/10
Tune in next time, when the commission of brown haired people sues "The Loud House" for saying that blond hair is normal.
