The Loud House:: Season 2: Episode 2 Intern for the Worse/ The Old and the Restless

The Loud House  Nickelodeon

"The Loud House" had seemed to catch fire during it's first season and was pre-renewed for it's second season and that meant that season 2 could start as soon as season 1 ended airing.  This season ran from November 2016 to December of 2017.

The first of the season; production wise, was the Christmas special : "11 Louds a Leapin'" which I've covered here.   This  is our look at the second season. If you want to catch up on the first; I've written about that season you can check that and other Loud House posts here.  Before I started doing season episodes in order, I used a randomizer and picked two from that; so there are some episodes from Season 2 I have already covered, you can check those out in that last link.

The second season keeps the show's structure going (what a strange thing for me to write)

Now that should have caught  you up; let's take a look at Season 2 starting with Episode 2.

Episode 2A:  Intern for the Worse.

Lincoln and his best friend, Clyde, this is also where they mention they are Clincon McLoud get it?  Anyway, these two are trying out for an internship fair at school and chose the local convenience store, Flip's.  The reason why want to work there is because it has everything 11-year-olds like.  Flip shows them how he's cheap and underhanded because, of course he is.  Flip also sets up the plot where he says the one who does the best job can become manager.

At first, Clyde and Lincoln  brush this aside because they are a team; until plot convenience- Flip comes out with an incentive where the manger gets a cup where they can get free "Flippies" which is like a slushie, but copyright safe.  (Or Squshiee for you Simpsons' fans)

Lola's car is apparently fueled by gag (what?) the two boys fake that they aren't competing with each other when they totally are. Side line: This episode is taking that whole plot line where two friends start to compete with each other for something but, also twisting it to fit the show and it's working so far. You can feel the tension building up but it's not making the viewer think Lincoln and Clyde are being awful.

Flip gives Clyde the manager spot.  This causes the two boys to conflict with each other.  Lincoln talks to Flip saying that he worked just as hard as Clyde. Oh, yeah and this where you can tell Flip is messing with them because of his own weird amusement.  He tells Lincoln that he's making a "supervising manager" position that Lincoln could try to get. (Also I'm deducting 0.5 pts for the sock and cheese thing, yuck)

After Lincoln does some work; Lincoln gets new position. Since Clyde doesn't like this, Flip messes him by giving him a chance for higher position.  This episode is doing a good job at making it where Flip is in the wrong, and only using Clyde and Lincoln's jealousy for his own advantage.  (Also removing 0.5 pts for the other gross things , I had to see, yeah  I'm strict)

Clyde and Lincoln do resort to fighting in the end.  They hear Flip talking on the phone and knowing he was doing his bad actions.  They boys make up; and they decide to mess with Flip. They have black mail on Flip doing illegal things   and they make him work for them. (Also, good thing I already deducted points for any other gross things I see.)

It's an alright episode, it never does anything to get annoying and Flip being the antagonist works.  It was simple episode and simple is fine.  I give it 9/10.

 More after the jump

Episode 2B: The Old and The Restless

Finally, an episode based off a soap, maybe we can have Days of our Louds, or Loud and Beautiful,  All my Loud Children,  One Loud to Live, Loud Passions (what?)  That's my awful joke let's in to the episode now.

We have Lincoln with his Grandpa , called "Pop Pop" in this episode. You might remember him from "Cover Girls".   Pop Pop is in a new place, that he seems to like.  Lincoln wants to have a fun day with his grandfather but, Sue, the lady who runs the home, is a little over the top.  Yeah, she's that stereotype of woman who runs a rest home with an strong iron grip in the name of "safety".

She goes around making sure the older people are frail by using mind tricks to make sure they stay in line.  Lincoln takes his grandfather out of there to have a fun day but, Sue says they have to be back by six or he's out. (Don't they pay to be in there? Like they pay right? I mean somebody is paying somebody, she can't just kick people out because they aren't back by six, right? Like what?)

The rest of the episode is Lincoln  making sure his grandpa stays himself instead of that thing Sue wanted him to be.  The montage of them hanging out is fun and sweet.  Now, Pop Pop decides to  enter a mechanical  bull riding competition and Lincoln  has to stop him because of the curfew time.  Pop Pop runs around doing fun things.

Guess what?  They miss the curfew. They have to get into the rest home before Sue does a room check. the other older people come and help them inside. Sue catches them sadly and kicks out Pop Pop. (I still have a question about that)  Pop Pop doesn't mind because he's tried of being treated like an old frail person.  The other older people say they'll leave too; and Sue says they can stay and they turn against Sue!

This was a good episode; nice to see Lincoln and grandfather have a great relationship. The flow was great and nothing felt unnecessary.   I give it 9/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time when we sue Flip. ha Sue Flip ahhaha!
