The Loud House: Season 7: Episode 3: Candy Crushed/ Master of Delusion

 The Loud House Nickelodeon

Episode 3a: Candy Crushed

This episode sets up a goal where Lola has been having too much sweets and Rita offers an idea that if she takes a break for a week, she'll get her a pageant dress if she does. That's really the whole episode, seeing Lola take a challenge and see if she can do it. She really good job of the whole week. There's some funny moments the ice cream man really wanting her to buy ice cream because she's his best customer. You see she  puts in the work and you want to root for her to succeed.

I also will mention that Rita in the episode was tuned just right. She offers a good incentive to help Lola try for a week. When Lola ends up getting one treat near the end and tells her mom, Rita understands is happy the Lola was able to do only just one treat the entire week. She still offers to get the dress, and also gives the good point of moderation, which Lola wasn't doing before.

The episode does get weird, but nothing where it makes it not work. Going to a candy factory for  a field trip after announcing you're going on a field trip was as expected as rain on your wedding day.  The candy factory part decided to go all Willy Wonka and the Chocolate factory on us, yes I'm using the 70's movie and title of that for this, with a kind of scary and strange candy factory owner and factory. There's a song, which is a fun song, like wow and goes for about over a minute. It's randomly odd but funny, they finally got that in. (one step closer to the body swap episode)  They restrained themselves from doing it for 7 seasons.

This is a good one, it's a lot fun and personality, Lola brings alot of that. Another good episode of her out side the whole pageant and beauty zone. The episode runs well, kind of weird, but fun weird. I give it 8/10.

Episode 3b: Master of Delusion

This is Lincoln's first episode of the season, interesting.  To a point it focuses on Lincoln's magic affair, which started to become his big thing in season 5, along with spies. No spies here though. (That's what you think)  Lincoln finds out , through dove mail,  (don't ask) that he was accepted to be a  junior assistant   Amazing Brailster.

The episodes goes as expected in sense, where Lincoln's boss wants him to do menial tasks and Lincoln really wanted to learn some tricks from the guy. These plots go different ways usually, more on that soon. Lincoln is 'wet behind the ears' and knows some magic but isn't as good as the Amazing guy, that's pretty good to note since well he's not been doing it too long.  You can get some of his frustration and wanting to do something well...amazing.  Back to that plot thing I mentioned, there are some episodes of this type where the guy is doing it just for free work or something like that episode with Lincoln working for Flip. This episode takes a different direction and does the other line of showing how valuable it is for Lincoln.

Lincoln's friends are in the start then sod off, then come back for the middle, where Lincoln bemoans that he hasn't go to do any magic stuff.  He makes the mistake of listening to bird brained Rusty, I use that because he literally had a bird on his head. The idea was to just try to impress Brailster by doing an amazing trick and hope for the best.  Though, again that's a dumb idea and it didn't work.

The friends come to help, it's gets worse, and then Lincoln admits to the magician that he messed up and he fixes some things.  The episode marvels in simplicity, and straightforwardness. Lincoln wants to advance his magic and that's good, and sometimes it's going to be a long process and the idea is to be patient. It was a nice type of episode for Lincoln for the show that moved away from Lincoln has to learn a lesson one way to doing something different and doing it someway relatable.

This episode is a good one and it brings a nice charm, while still being simple. The running gag with Rusty and the bird on his head was fun to see, and didn't end up being annoying.  Episode didn't waste our time with the magician being a bad guy in the end, glad they kept him actually honest.  Nice well done, I give it 7.6/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time when we wonder what happened to the other kids at the factory, we only saw Lola in the end...oh no...
