The Loud House: Season 3: Episode 18: House of Lies/ Games Boys

 The Loud House Nickelodeon

Episode 18a: House of Lies

Lying is bad. The message of many show episodes do that, this show has done that in ways. This episode also has my favorite Loud sister, Lisa,  as the lead. [asserting my bias here]  Back to to my main point, a lot of shows, especially one that *points at the chart* is for 6-11 years olds sends a basic message that "lying is bad". It just is. Though, much of our society lies.  George Washington did tell lies, he was the commander of an army, there's lying involved or people die.  I have seen media try this idea, differently, where they show that "white lies" are sometimes good because being too honest can hurt people.

The problem with presenting a story is it has to be black or white in its moral, versus real human life where it's harder to do. (Don't like in court, that's perjury, but...). This episode will not be going lying is bad, it will going with if you don't allow lying you will cause family destruction.

Anyway, that's it for now, thank you for reading.... tune in next time when we write the word "hammer" 67.5 times...

Oops! We lied.  Anyway, this episode, as stated above the lie, is about Lisa. Lisa is the interesting character to star in this episode. Oddly, a girl who has lied about things involving her science experiments.  But (big but) in this episode it's kind of glimpse of exploring her age 4 side with her overt genius side.  How that contrast can crash into each other here.

Lisa sees her family members doing little "white lies"  the idea of a lie that might not be too bad or world ending. (maybe) Lisa is curious about this, and I do again like that apparently Lisa doesn't understand the concept of white lies this episode. (I'm removing 0.1pt just for our reason though)  Though I do think saying that cabbage casserole with fish sauce is abomination towards humanity itself and I would tell Lynn Sr. that and make him cry, because it has to be said. Not telling him the truth about it would then cause a Holy War , a nuclear war and the return of the "Caveman" sitcom. (this is not a lie)

Lisa having a tape recorder with tape. Anyway, Lisa feels her family lying is a problem and decides to fix it.  She makes a pair of glasses that can tell when people are lying. (Fun fact: Lie detectors don't in real life, might not scout out lies) This part of the episode is a montage of Lisa being around and releveling  lies a family member  has told another.

Luan, the Lisa Lie Detector has concluded, that was a lie! (Luan then proceeds to swear)

The family members end up mad that she has revealed their false hoods, untruths, deceits, myths, fictions, and lies.  (They could have just not lied, knowing about the glasses, they are so stupppid)  The parents could have also parented , if we're going really play some game here. Rita does say that a little white lie can sometimes smooth things over. ( Rita, the politician)

Lynn Sr. thinks of one idea. Lincoln (remember Lincoln?) says a good line of "tell the truth" but their father says no... uhhh. (His plan is to kill Lisa, nooo! also I'm lying) They are going to destroy the glasses. (They put more work in that then just not lying around the glasses)  In a surprise twist, (that's a lie) Lisa figured out that her glasses are gone, because well duh.  She installed a back up system where she violates the 4th amendment.

The new system can't be attacked to be destroyed and focuses on lies. Lisa is proud that her machine is working.  On Rita's part about Lucy looking at her novel, an editor would be callous and tear that thing apart so... being truthful here would be actually sensible.  Rewind,... Leni's hair cut, yeah if Lincoln could have lied, but someone else from outside the family would just say it looks awful so... hmm. Fast Forward... apparently these cameras have caused about of random honestly, but straining the family relationships.   Lynn Sr. does that gross cabbage thing again, I thought I told you this earlier old man.  I'm actually not the episode's side with the meal. Then the man throws a stromp because his meal sucked. He wants (season 3) to own a restaurant, he's going to get opinions and honesty. (Minus 0.2 pts towards the episode)

Lisa tries to get some family conversation, but apparently everyone is too mad at each other.  (ppst there's like 1 minute and 30 seconds left in the episode how can they end this thing) Lisa thinks her invention or whatever is messing up her family. (Apparently, the Louds are built on lies and lying is the only thing keeping them as a family, so it's over)

Then the episode has to do the classic confuse the machine to by spreading misinformation so hard that  causes it to explode.  Anyway, the episode decides to troll me personally, the man is trolling, squid ink surprise. The family is going to fake enjoy his meal, a squid had to die for,  and get take out later. Lisa apparently learned her lesson by condoning this.  (Minus 1pt)

The episode has a message that a little bit of lying or a white lie is alright, and don't be too worried. It does miss the mark in being constructive criticism and nuisances.  A character saying a Luan joke is funny as a lie, is understood. Rita apparently not being able to take any honesty on her writing is stupid. Don't get me started again on Lynn Sr. food stuff.  That to  me,  a slightly ridiculous person, does hamper the episode. It's mostly alright and I like the charm of Lisa's 4-year-old side being shown.  I give it 7.9/10 [the Lisa skew in pts helped it a bit, it'd be 7.5 otherwise. ]

More after the jump

Episode 18b: Game Boys

Sadly this episode isn't about the Nintendo Game Boy (minus 10pts, alright it's a joke, but I'm close).  Clyde has a handheld game system (not a Gameboy, not even a DS, I'm going home) and he's playing a game with Lincoln.  The episode  goes straight off of showing Clyde is a little worried about someone else, read: Lincoln, using it. It's a brand new one his grandma won.

Clyde mentions he won't be able to play with the thing the next day because his fathers have a "screens free Sunday" (that's right no screens, the bugs can fly in freely).  Lincoln asks if he borrow it. Clyde has a fear that because Lincoln has 10 sisters or something , that his machine will get broken at the Loud House. Now, he could just tell Lincoln right here, a concern and address it but... where do you think we are?

Yeah, so the episode, which interestingly is Clyde focused -Not Lincoln- is going to be Clyde being strange for the rest of it as he hovers around the machine. There's also him trying to get up the courage to  tell him that doesn't want Lincoln to borrow it.  Clyde brings it to Lincoln's house and has it in a gag that Spongebob did better and funnier.  I do like point out (yes you do, and I've not said anything this half of the post) that Clyde is Lincoln's best friend. He knows Lincoln. Like, Lincoln would probably be very concerned about Clyde's machine and take care of it. Lincoln does respect him and they've been friends for awhile. Clyde here is written like they just met a few weeks ago and have a surface level of understanding each other.

Clyde decides to over around Lincoln worrying about everything that could drip on the machine. Another thing, this part of the episode everything seems like it was there being dragged out for time. (minus 0.3pts for the bird poop). Lincoln does notice he is acting strange, but thinks its because Clyde is trying to get around screenless Sunday and he kicks his friend out. Clyde decides to break an entering and covertly make sure the machine stays safe.  (He also kills Lisa)  The part of Clyde's ways of stopping would-be disaster is fun, but the episode stretches it out too much and makes it long. (minus 0.4pts removed for the fart thing)

They eventually see Clyde is under the table.  He and Lincoln talk it out.  The episode isn't bad, but there are parts that drag and it forgets things about some characterization. I think some things could have funnier if they are going to use a gag, be funnier.  Some parts were drawn out. I give it 6.6/10.

That's it for now, tune in next time,  when we play with wonder who broke the PlayStation Vita.
