The Casagrandes: Season 3: Episode4: Skaters Gonna Hate/ Born to be Mild

 The Casagrandes Nickelodeon

 Episode 4a: Skaters Gonna Hate

Featuring this week's special guest star : Tony Hawk.

Ronnie Anne and her friends are going in a skateboarding competition in a week, against Tony Hawk's team. (It's kind of weird they are relying on a real person for the show, at least ot me) Now if you remember season 1 episode 1, Carlos Casagrande is also a skateboarding guy, if you don't remember then uh Carlos Casagrande is a skateboarding guy.  Apparently, Carols knows Tony Hawk and remembers that Tony sabotaged him the past in a skateboarding event. (what?)

He has Sergio, because of course, help spy on Tony Hawk to see what his team is doing to help Ronnie Anne's team win.  I will add Carlos doesn't tell Ronnie Anne that he knows Tony Hawk, has a grudge against him, and that he's cheating, so that keeps them in the clear, thank you. It's a man goes overboard to get over a grudge episode. (Weeeee)

It's skateboarding competition day. For a smart guy, professor Carlos is stupid, you see, he used the same tricks that Tony Hawk's team was doing for his own team. (What could go wrong?)  Thankfully, Tony Hawk figured this out ,thanks to Sergio's stupidity.  Laird has to do a move, but he gets frightened and passes out.Carlos dresses like Laird using some leaves and his glasses. (glad they have same eye problems apparently) and Laird's friends can't tell that he doesn't look the same, reminds me of This Bird Has Flown ,  and since it has reminded me of that I'm taking off a point.

Then  of course it falls apart after the team wins, and they notice that what a shock! It's Carlos. Carlos tells Tony Hawk that  he sabotaged him years ago and that's why he did this. Tony Hawk says he didn't.  Just to get this 20 year grudge over with, Sergio says he remembers that event, because he was there (not a shock) and conveniently has the tape of the event. (what?)

It was  a Tony Hawk trying to high-five him and apparently missed enough to cause Carlos to stumble. Everything is better now. yay!

I'm glad we got skateboarding competition episode  and they remembered that Carlos was a boarder. I'm iffy on the whole "let's do a celebrity voice" and appearance for a set of series that mostly stayed away from that.  The plot was basically a mixture of character holds a grudge over a misunderstanding , even hitting the beats of someone at the end bringing up proof to clear it up, and a plot about going overboard to win, without the whole making people angry at you thing.

It was an alright episode,  I enjoyed it, it uses plot ideas that've been used before, but mixes them well.  I give it 7.5/10

Episode 4b: Born To Be Mild

Alexis , the neighbor boy, is being messed with at school by two boys (also, even though, I'm glad to see Ricky, Becky's Brother, has been remembered, so 0.5pts added)  Carl sees this and shows concern and Alexis says he's a hugger and not a fighter. Carl decides to help him be a tough guy.  There's also a Laird running gag.

It is kind of sweet to see Carl is trying to be a superhero ish person like his hero "El Falcon" so that's pretty nice touch, and fitting with his character. Yes, this is an episode where a character is trying to get a character to be more tough, which can only end in a mess.  So Carl gives Alexis a makeover, with a new a coat,  fake scar ( a real scar would be a pain)

Carl also  juiced up the work, by making some rumors about Alexis to make people scared.(Though one of them is kind of gross so minus 0.5pts).  The two boys show up and Alexis makes fun of them and then Ricky challenges him to a fight after school.(He just says bike rack, after school, so I assume it's a fight, Carl says it's a fight)

Carl  brings Sergio and Lalo to the fight too, and there's a squirrel on the boys' side. This is weird. Then principal stops the fight before  it happened. (Rude, I had $50 on Ricky)  After the principal says they will be suspended, so Carl takes the lead and decides to say he did it.  Then, everything gets ended with a hug. (Which is how the French and Indian War ended)

This was  an alright episode. it's basic but not bad, again it does play out that maybe talking things out , but with some assertiveness is a good balance. At least some times. I do like that Carl's heart was in the right place and the episode has some funny moments.  The coolest thing is how the episode does very comic book esque look to it. (Also thanks for having Ricky back again)   It's 7.5/10
