The Loud House: Season 3: Episode 11: Pasture Bedtime/ Shop Girl

 The Loud House  Nickelodeon

           Episode 11a : Pasture Bedtime

Liam is organizing a slumber party (or sleep over) with his friends, that includes Lincoln.  Girl Jordan walks over to the boys and announces that she has a new pool and having a pool party and wants invite them over.  Guess when the  pool party is? (March 23rd?)   That's right, the same night as the sleep over. Zach wonders if they can do both, but Lincoln says it's Liam's first sleep over and they owe him that.  There we go episode over, wait what? Oh there's got to be a conflict, right... ok.

While the boys are a Liam's farm (they died?) they have farm fun, but they get texts with enticing videos from the pool party. They are enticed to go to the party because temptation (All I desire, Temptation, Keep climbing higher and higher,Temptation)   to the point  they decide to go to the party, but wait for Liam to fall asleep.    They goat milk him to sleep (what?)  and go to the pool party.

They agree to be there for one hour.  Now this episode is setting up a karma wheel because you, the intelligent viewer, will already know what the moral of the episode is, that is they shouldn't have left Liam like that and episode is going to karma them in fun set up ways. Rusty puts hot sauce on a sub, Zach sprays hair dye in his hair,  Lincoln and Clyde want to go swimming and some boy says they should just swim in their underwear.  Rusty is apparently allergic to hot sauce  (how convenient) so that gives him an allergic reaction, the hair spray causes hair loss because Zach is a red head (also convenient),  Lincoln and Clyde worry the girls will seem in their underwear and a dog steals their clothes (also convenient)  They agree to all go together back to Liam's farm. They all get seen by the party goers and get their pictures taken. (I'm calling the government!)

The next morning, Liam wakes up and and already knows they went to the party. It's easy to tell because nobody has called a doctor for Rusty, and somehow he's not dead yet, Zach's hair is dead and Lincoln and Clyde are in their underwear still (though that's not as dead a giveaway as Zach's hair) Liam also go the embarrassing pictures from the party.  All is forgiven though.

The ending joke is great , I love it!   I won't say what it was , if you haven't seen it, but yes!  It's dark humor.

This episode is fun set up, with the characters  going to convenient plot mishaps but that doesn' t make it not fun. Its starts well,  with Lincoln and the group deciding not to go the pool party and shows the power of temptation and how hard it is to resist it.  It's a grass isn't so much greener on the other side plot.  They could have explained to Liam, and he might have understood, but that wouldn't have been conducive to the plot where temptation makes your act  slightly irrationally and not think things out well.   I think it's well done episode , funny, well done comedy. I give it 8/10

  Episode 11b  :  Shop Girl

The show has set up Len's personality to be the sweetest person on the Earth, that's main part of this episode.  There's a big sale at the department sale but when she goes, she lets stuff get taken from her arms because of course. The Loud siblings worry that she's not assertive, like them. They decide to each her how to be more assertive.

We see the siblings teacher her different measures on how to assertively shop assertively. It  comes to shop again, it kinds of works and she's able to assertively shop assertively. The siblings go and have lunch, while she waits in line.  Leni sees an old lady wondering about the swim suits, she was getitng one for her grand daughter, Leni has the one and gives it to  the woman. Then another woman was looking for a sweater and Leni has the one, so she gives it her.  Leni helps  a guy who dropped his wallet, and offers to leave line to help the man find something for his wife for their anniversary. (I'm not mentioning the Charlie Rose reference if you don't)

Leni ends up giving up everything she picked up in her shopping trip, and helped a bunch of people. She ends up leaving the story and the siblings wonder what happened, she says she was happy to help others more. The older woman from before shows up and gives her gift for her help. Then the other woman give Leni and her family free food, and the guy she helped  got her a free gift card.  The woman who runs the  store shows up and offers her a job and she accepts.

I like how the episode doesn't  make it where Leni goes assertive then goes off model to make the family regret their decision, a classic plot line.  I like that it doesn't say you should be assertive as an exclusive thing and that being nice and kind is just as valuable in situations and might even be more beneficial. That's a great complexity they did  for the plot instead of just presenting as right or wrong.  They also fit it well to what Leni's character the episode is made for Leni not an episode with Leni put in to it.   It's wonderful episode,  I give it 9/10.

That's it for now , tune next time when Lincoln is more aggressive while shopping for a new skirt to wear to a farmer's daughter's pool party.
