The Casagrandes Nickelodeon
Episode 16a: Kick Some Bot
Momentary moment of writer's over zealousness here: Yes! An episode with my favorite Loud sister showing up, we did it Lisa bros! This is our prize! We did it! yay!
Now to the episode.
The episode starts with Adelaide showing Becca her award for "cutest cosplay" which is a thing I guess. It sets up the plot for episode where Sid is feeling a bit not recognized as much as her sister. Ronnie Anne plot connivances up a robot contest, and then we don't see her again. (Hey Ronnie Anne, Bye Ronnie Anne)
With Becca, the episode gives a something good and subtle to it. Becca decides to spend time watching her daughter compete instead of stopping a monkey uprising at the zoo. (I ain't going there, there's a monkey uprising) Through the episode, which is also used for the climax reminding me of "Arrgh in the Family" in away, she's buying foam fingers and stuff to cheer for her daughter like a mad woman. This is without Sid telling her how she was feeling at the start, so hang on this as I go on through the episode.
The competition involves Vito with Robbie the robot, the one Sid made in "New Roomie" , Maybelle is there with her mango bot, because sure... and they named a character from Two of Clubs (one of the best episodes of the show) from the Robotics club, Rachel. This is a good use of call backs from the series.
Now, our girl shows up with our robot guy, Todd. Lisa being known by Sid, but not saying Lincoln's sister is a nice touch. It shows Lisa is known through her own accords and not just through Lincoln I'm glad they went that way. I like that Sid seems to have some sort of admiration for Lisa and seems to look up to her , which is not something we see much with Lisa interaction in the main series. That's a good way of doing it and there's some plus points here.
The Robot competition seems to be set up where you know it's going to to be Sid and Lisa at the end. I do like they had Vito and Maybelle there just for their fun quirkiness. You also see that Sid is using different disks to have Breakfast Bot do stuff, this is a good set up for later as well. Breakfast Bot has to make Breakfast. (mmm dinner) (Also, this is a weird competition of cleaning up, playing basketball, and make breakfast, what?)
The final round is a robot talent show, with Lisa's Todd versus Sid's Breakfast Bot. Do Robots have talents? Todd's talent is doing music, because sure. Lisa seems to be winning this thing. Sid decides to throw a bunch of disks inside Breakfast Bot and he can do some stuff. The, the Lucha mode starts. It's programmed to wrestle the other robots, oops.
Remember what I said about Becca wearing the foam stuff? Well she's ended up looking like a robot just when B. B wants to do this and he grabs her and this means Sid dresses up like a robot to fight him. We get a robot fight of fun and of course, Sid stops him but doesn't win because well duh.
Sid tells her mom how she's been feeling and Becca explains that Adelaide is younger and needs extra attention but didn't mean to make Sid feel the way she did. We get a nice hug. Lisa wins and we get a nice Sid and Lisa interaction and then they chose the dance party ending.
The plot being that Sid feels inadequate in her mother's eyes is interesting, thought not a surprise, that kind of happened "Zoo-mergency!' is well done here. I really like them showing Becca being super supportive as to give away that OF COURSE she cares about Sid's stuff, it's just that Adelaide is younger and needier. This post is biased, because these are my thoughts, Lisa was well added into episode without over shadowing Sid or the episode. I wouldn't want Lisa to be used improperly. I like how she was added, mentioning again how I liked she wasn't rereferred to as Lincoln's sister, but that Sid has her own charmed way of knowing her and also following her newsletter.
The competition is set up to have Lisa versus Sid , but it was never taken in away where they were going to be enemies or anyone cheating to get ahead, since episode wasn't really about these two going against each other. This was well done use of having a Loud (my case: Best Loud Sister) interact in the spin off without it feeling too much or distracting or odd. I give the episode 9/10.

Episode 16b: Salvador Doggy
I think it works to show someone getting arts block or writer's block and have creative fatigue and not able to think of what to do creatively. (Sometimes blogging) Frida feels that way when she has to make her next art piece she's feeling a bit overwhelmed. So Lalo comes in he splashes paint on her empty canvas and her art guy thinks she made an amazing art piece.
So yeah it is ALMOST an episode about having someone pass off someone else's thing as their own BUT then Sergio comes in. Sergio's annoyance is increased this episode, like they turned up his annoying volume. He convinces Lalo not to do any art until conditions are met each time, and getting more and more ridiculous to the point where Frida snaps and decides to find another dog to it.
Becky shows up for the fun, with her dog Malo and this for Frida to confuse Malo with Lalo and use him for her art, after she figures out that she needed Lalo. There are some fun gags this episode too. So eventually, Frida reveals what's been going on and then she gets an idea... the end of the episode she's presenting art , dressed up like a dog where she shakes paint on canvases, because sometimes artists are weird.
This episode was fine, I think Sergio hampers it more than anything else, the rest of the episode is pretty fun (also Becky bump) there's some fun in the episode and the idea of Frida being creative burned was workable and pretty relatable. This was a good episode 7.5/10 .
That is for now, tune in next time when we have robots dress like dogs to take over the world... like we do every night.
